The Rifa Housing Competition is an annual call that invites successive generations of architecture students from the Universidad de la República to propose new ways of living. The goal is to build a home based on their own design strategies, optimizing resources and construction times. Reflecting on living, architecture, and the pedagogy of the discipline, the competition offers the opportunity to experience a design process that extends far beyond the classroom.

As part of the traveling exhibition and book series developed by Saint-Gobain, “El material de lo construido”, Catalan architect Josep Ferrando presented his exhibition "The Infinite Grid," inaugurating the Bisman Ediciones Architecture Gallery and Residency. The space is located in the “Casa de Estudios para Artistas”, one of Argentina's most iconic modern architecture buildings, designed by Antonio Bonet, Horacio Vera Barros, and Abel López Chas around 1938.

How do they relate to the communities that live alongside them? “Urban Murals: Solidarity Infrastructure Plan (PISO)” by Bisman Ediciones compiles the work of Saint-Gobain, highlighting the urban interventions they have driven since 2005 through their Solidarity Infrastructure Plan (PISO) program across the 24 Argentine provinces.

Organized by the Intendencia de Paysandú and sponsored by the Sociedad de Arquitectos del Uruguay, a preliminary design competition was launched for the renovation and general building refurbishment of the June 8 Indoor Stadium in the city of Paysandú, Uruguay.

Founded in 2018 and based in Argentina, LINA Plataforma (Laboratory > Intervention + Architecture) presents itself as a global research and experimentation platform linked to cultural heritage, aiming to reflect on the relationship between heritage, sustainability, and design education.

On Wednesday, September 28, the 18th edition of the Buenos Aires International Architecture Biennale opened at the Faena Art Center in Puerto Madero, where it will run through Sunday, October 2. For the first time, the event is free and open to the public.

During the fourth day of the 18th Buenos Aires International Biennial of Architecture, the Biennial Awards were announced, highlighting architectural projects and works developed over the last four years both nationally and internationally. The winners of the 5th Latin American Landscape Architecture Biennial (BLAP 2022) have been announced. Geared toward students, professionals, and architecture enthusiasts, the course taught by Juan Pablo Aschner on Contemporary Latin American Architecture is a massive open online course (MOOC) in Spanish. It offers a comprehensive and systematic overview of the architecture built in Latin America from 2000 to the present, providing diverse tools to analyze the variables and intentions behind each building.

Amid paradigm shifts and new opportunities for living, the Colegio de Arquitectos de Guatemala has launched the first Central American Architecture Biennial (BARCA 2021-2022). The initiative aims to establish a shared space for Central American countries, cities, neighborhoods, and people, fostering the exchange of ideas through creativity, research, and academia. Featuring a hybrid format, the 28th Colombian Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BCAU 2022) will take place virtually from November 14 to 16 and in person from November 17 to 19 at the Neomundo events center in Bucaramanga, Santander. The Colombian Society of Architects has announced the finalist projects for each of the nine established categories.

The Library of the Torcuato Di Tella University (UTDT) and the Center for Contemporary Architecture Studies (CEAC) of the School of Architecture and Urban Studies (EAEU, UTDT) have announced the complete digitization of all articles from Block magazine in the Torcuato Di Tella University Digital Repository, located in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. Celebrating 25 years since its first edition, they have decided to make all nine issues freely available online in an effort to contribute to the construction of an architecture with meaning and identity.

Located in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires, the Mariano Moreno National Library stems from a national design competition launched in 1961. Built on the site of Argentina's former Presidential Residence during the presidency of Juan Domingo Perón (the Unzué Palace), the competition—which closed in April 1962—sought to shake up the architectural scene, serving not only as a mandatory step to develop the project but also as a platform for formal and programmatic experimentation.

As part of Open House Buenos Aires, the themed photography competition Open Foto 2022 was held with the support of Wikimedia Argentina. Its goal is to highlight the architecture of Buenos Aires through the routes taken by visitors during the architecture and urbanism festival on October 1 and 2, 2022.

From February 22 to 26, 2023, the International Contemporary Art Fair ARCOmadrid will take place at IFEMA Madrid. HANGHAR and estudio DIIR, both Madrid-based architecture firms, have been selected to design the fair's VIP Lounge. Its central theme, "The Mediterranean: A Round Sea," serves as the starting point and inspiration for this proposal, titled VERBENA.
