The issue of diasporas, observed in the displacement of populations across the globe, is a pressing topic. Everyone is in search of a dream: the city as a welcoming shelter for those whom life's adversities have expelled from their lands. To conceive of this CITY that people can call home, in times of diaspora, we need UTOPIA. The city that does not yet exist is a possible city, or even more: it is the construction of an ideal of urban experiences grounded in hospitality and solidarity.

5th Latin American Meeting: Introduction to Architectural Education

The 5th Latin American Meeting on the Introduction to Architectural Education, hosted in the city of Concepción, Chile, is an invitation to all faculty members of architecture schools across Latin America. This edition will feature professors from as far north as Mexico and as far south as Argentina. The congress aims to strengthen and expand the network between Latin American architecture schools to train the architects of the new millennium, while creating a space for reflection on successful teaching strategies with a renewed focus on achieving meaningful learning.

Student Competition 'Proyectar a Conciencia' 3.0: How to Reduce Energy Consumption in Existing Buildings?

How can we intervene in existing structures to improve environmental, urban, social, and economic conditions?

The third edition of the 'Proyectar a Conciencia' 3.0 competition, scheduled for the second half of 2019, addresses this question by inviting teams of 2 to 4 students, guided by an architect, to explore how to modernize existing buildings to reduce energy consumption and meet contemporary environmental goals—particularly in light of the upcoming COP25.

Félix Candela Award

The Félix Candela Award is a two-stage international architecture ideas competition conducted in Spanish. Organized annually by the Instituto Español de Arquitectura (IESARQ), it is open to students of architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, and design, as well as architects, landscape architects, urban planners, and designers up to 35 years of age, participating individually or in teams of two or three.

Marta Scheu Torres Award 2019 opens call in Chile for outstanding women in architecture and urbanism

The Institute of Architecture and Urbanism at the Austral University of Chile (UACh) invites all architects in Chile to apply for the Marta Scheu Torres Award. ArchDaily is the official media partner for this competition, which aims to recognize outstanding women professionals in architecture and urbanism.

Established in 2016, the award was first presented in 2017 to Macarena Almonacid for her fruitful work in the restoration of the churches of Chiloé. In 2017, it was awarded to Emelyn de Los Ríos, National Coordinator of the Public Spaces Program at the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism.

International Competition: "Building for the Education of the Future" in the Innovation Park, Argentina

From October 4 to November 25, the call for entries for the International Design Competition for the "Education of the Future Building" will be open. The project is to be built based on the master plan designed for the Innovation Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This open, single-stage competition is open to all architecture professionals wishing to participate. The goal is to develop a landmark building for the city that, from a contemporary perspective, addresses diverse needs, demands, and requirements, positioning the Innovation Park as an urban hub. The competition seeks an architectural proposal that fosters entrepreneurship, science, technology, and the generation, attraction, and development of innovation, knowledge, and talent in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

Call for Entries: International Ideas Competition: Living in the City, Housing in Contemporary Urban Uruguay

The Ministry of Housing, Land Use Planning and Environment, through the National Housing Directorate (DINAVI), and the Faculty of Architecture, Design, and Urbanism (FADU), through the Committee on Habitability, are joining forces to launch an open ideas competition for students, faculty, and professionals. The goal is to formulate design ideas that offer alternatives and innovations to current management, design, and construction methods for urban housing in Uruguay.

Expo 2023 Ideas Competition: “International Pavilions + Creative Industries Campus”

International Pavilions” is the third of six international ideas competitions for the construction of the Expo 2023 buildings, which were awarded to Argentina following a vote at the General Assembly of the BIE (Bureau International des Expositions).

Organized by the Sociedad Central de Arquitectos (SCA) and the Colegio de Arquitectos de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (CAPBA), and sponsored by the Federación Argentina de Entidades de Arquitectos (FADEA), this sixth competition covers the design of a public space that will become a major science and knowledge park once the Expo concludes.
