Chennai: The Latest Architecture and News
Architecture and research firm rat[LAB] Studio and Shilpa Architects have designed a new temple in Koppur that reinterprets India's vernacular through parametric design. Called the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple, the project is located on the outskirts of Chennai on an 11 acre site at the epicenter of a 338 acre masterplan. The design features an 11 sided polygon (hendecagon), articulated as a three-dimensional polyhedron.
This one-of-a-kind 3-day workshop on 'Thoughtful Cooling' is happening at Chennai on the 2nd to 4th of September for practicing architects. The workshop enables a deep understanding of the principles and practical application methods of Building Physics, Passive Design Interventions, Sustainable Cooling Technologies and Building Energy Modeling.
This housing project proposal for Design Against the Elements comes from Triple O Studio in India. It reflects on the scales of the contextual architecture by providing radical innovations in building methods, yet retaining a sensitivity to the context in the spatial organization of the project.
