Art & Architecture: Korean Artist Jazoo Yang Covers a House Set for Demolition With Her Thumbprints

A few months ago, Korean artist Jazoo Yang completed her most recent piece, titled “Dots: Motgol 66.” The work covered a home set for demolition in the small Korean village of Motgol, Busan with Yang’s thumbprint. Working from October 9th to 29th, for 4-5 hours a day, 3 days a week, “Motgol 66” was the first time Yang was able to realize her project goal, with two previous incidents of homes being demolished early.

Parsa Khalili and ATELIERPAP Propose Public Plazas and Open Plans for The Busan Hub of Creative Economy

Parsa Khalili and ATELIERPAP have received an honorable mention for their proposal in a competition to design the Busan Hub of Creative Economy - part of the first phase of a revitalization project to spread industry, culture and jobs in the South Korean city’s North Port. Reacting to the changing demands of the creative economy, Khalili and Pap have proposed a structure comprising a plinth conjoined with a tower, wrapped in a grand staircase.

SYNWHA Consortium Wins Competition to Design Waterfront Park for Busan North Port

The Busan Port Authority (BPA) has named the SYNWHA Consortium winners of an international competition for the Busan North Port Redevelopment in South Korea. The winning proposal is an "Interactive Pier" slated to transform the original port into a cultural center that celebrates the marriage of mountains, river, and sea, while crafting dynamic connections between the city of Busan and its seaside.

Snøhetta was recently selected as the winner of the Busan Opera House Competition in South Korea with their ‘Unpacking the Box’ concept. Their proposal is conceived not as frozen music but rather as an instrument, upon which we can play. This instrument is neither a white cube nor a black box, empty devoid of expression; this Opera building outward expresses the values and ethos of the place and content.
