1st Urban Forum: Cities, How Are We Doing?

When you run into someone on the street you haven't seen in a while, the question arises: "How are you doing?" "How Are We Doing?" is a more inclusive approach that is less likely to discourage potential answers. If we ask the city, the question—and consequently the answer—would be just as inclusive. This is a highly recommended event to attend, as we are all, as citizens, part of the current situation and, now more than ever, part of the potential transformations for Lima.

Volunteer for "Olhe o Degrau Jardim Nakamura"

Cidade Ativa is leading another "Olhe o Degrau" initiative in Jardim Nakamura! This time, we will intervene on-site by painting retaining walls and landings, incorporating graffiti by Ciclo Social Arte, and constructing furniture from wood and tires with the support of Zoom Urbanismo Arquitetura e Design.

The 1st "NEIGHBORHOOD AND CHILDHOOD" Forum is an initiative by the Coordinadora de la Ciudad (en Construcción), held within the framework of the Urban95 Program and the Fitekantropus Project. It aims to bring together various organizations, institutions, collectives, and individuals working with and for children to share visions, approaches, and methodologies; coordinate initiatives, proposals, and actions; and raise awareness among citizens and local governments regarding this issue.

We have seen these colorful posters everywhere, and we didn't want to miss out on this beautiful event, which highlights the intersection of children and the neighborhood, viewing public space as an educational space. If you missed what has already happened, we will tell you about it in a future post, as we have been attending since day one. However, please don't miss what's coming up:

2nd National Architecture Students Meeting: Resilient Movement

The National Meeting of Architecture Students is the premier event of the National Organization of Architecture Students (ONEA), a non-profit organization comprised of architecture students from nine cities in Ecuador: Quito, Ambato, Riobamba, Loja, Cuenca, Ibarra, Guayaquil, Manta, and Portoviejo. The organization seeks to bring together as many architecture students as possible to address various issues related to urbanism, architectural design, landscape architecture, urban sociology, legal urbanism, and other relevant topics in the discipline, with the goal of fostering critical awareness among architecture students committed to their culture and social responsibility in the various cities that make up the Ecuadorian landscape.

Established in 2009, the postgraduate program at Escola da Cidade offers lato sensu courses organized around the broad, overarching theme: “Civilization America: A Perspective Through Architecture.”

Registration open for AndesWorkshop 2018

AndesWorkshop, led by Cazú Zegers and GrupoTalca, is now accepting applications for 2018. The initiative aims to explore the Andes Mountains (Chile), analyze their landscape, engage with their inhabitants and history, and understand their origins. The goal is to create a low-tech architectural monument in collaboration with architects, students, and local inhabitants, using minimal resources to achieve maximum spatial expression and thereby add value to the territory.
