Since its founding in 1973 in Vila-real, Spain, Porcelanosa has become a benchmark for architecture, design, and interior design, focusing its production on flooring, single-fired wall tiles, stoneware, and porcelain tiles. Moving away from traditional red clay manufacturing, José Soriano and brothers Héctor and Manuel Colonques introduced the distinctive touch of ceramics to design.

Alongside developing comprehensive space design solutions, year after year, Porcelanosa sets trends in materials, textures, and interior design. Additionally, since 2018, the company has organized an international exhibition showcasing annual design trends in flooring, wall coverings, kitchens, bathrooms, and other elements such as wardrobes, furniture, and lighting.

In its sixth edition, the Erich Mendelsohn Brick Architecture Award—organized triennially since 2008 by the Bauen mit Backstein Initiative—seeks to recognize and highlight the finest brick buildings. The award's primary goal is to identify and honor the most outstanding projects across four categories, presenting them to the general public. The competition invites architects and planners to showcase the architectural potential of this material, which is both traditional and innovative. The result is high-profile, intensive public relations for one of Germany's most prestigious architectural awards.

On October 18, during the 17th edition of the Buenos Aires International Biennial of Architecture and concluding a series of keynote lectures, debates, and exhibitions held at the Usina del Arte in Buenos Aires, the winners of the “Evolución Ladrillo” (Brick Evolution) award, the CICA (International Committee of Architectural Critics) awards, the Bienal BA category awards, and the Grand Biennial Prize were announced, honoring a total of 28 architecture firms, institutions, and organizations for their work in the field of architecture.

Just over six months ago, the Federation of Architects' Associations of the Republic of Mexico invited young Mexican architects to participate in the Third Young Architects Biennial, aiming to identify, recognize, and promote their best works. Through analysis and critique, the biennial fostered reflection on responsible contemporary architecture with sustainable solutions.

The Mexican architecture firm Comunal Taller de Arquitectura has been announced as the winner of the 2019 AR Emerging Architecture awards, alongside two highly commended practices—Estudio MMX and Estúdio Gustavo Utrabo—and the joint winners of the Peter Davey Prize, TAKA Architects and Clancy Moore Architects.

Throughout November, Diez Company will present the third edition of Maison Diez Company to both Mexican and international audiences. Dedicated to lighting design, the space serves as a gathering point for designers, creatives, architects, interior designers, commercial partners, lighting experts, and international brand representatives to celebrate light. Following the success of its 2018 and 2019 editions, Maison Diez Company showcases its latest designs within a historic mansion in the Escandón neighborhood, open to the public from November 6 through May 20, 2022.

The transition of human settlements from a nomadic to a settled lifestyle transformed the conception of dwellings, extending beyond their primary use as shelter. Over time, each housing typology that developed around the world acquired unique characteristics that defined its identity and materiality, shaped by the culture and geographic region where it emerged.

In North America, the ancient city of Tenochtitlan was a benchmark for the technological and construction advancements of its time, distinguished by the use of native materials, such as earthen/stone floors, adobe walls, and local wood/cane posts. Over time, dwellings in Mexico have managed to preserve their identity while incorporating high-quality materials. The development of new technologies and the sophistication of the manufacturing process for architectural materials led to the rise of porcelain tiles, such as those developed by Firenze, which became a valuable resource due to their versatile aesthetics, high strength, and durability.

Within the framework of Gallery Weekend, which took place from September 20 to 23, Dosa Studio presented an installation at the joségarcía, mx gallery that represents a synthesis of the Casa Palmas project, located in Texcoco, State of Mexico.

In the heart of the Santa María La Ribera neighborhood, this installation—composed of two walls embracing a sunken space within the house where the gallery is located—decontextualizes the design gestures developed in Casa Palmas to shape a new space. This environment transports visitors to that original, 40-year-old home, which was transformed to improve its residents' quality of life through a spatial experience that weaves a close relationship with its context.

The Eco Pavilion 2018 is the eighth edition of a competition that, since 2010, has served as a space for reflection on architecture through temporary construction inside the courtyard of the Museo Experimental el Eco. This year's edition was framed around the concept of "pure architecture," based on a premise proposed by architect Isaac Broid.
