This Thursday, April 23, 2020, at 5:00 PM, the feature-length documentary “Konder: o protagonismo da simplicidade” (Konder: The Protagonism of Simplicity) will premiere. The launch includes a virtual roundtable discussion on the IAB-RJ Facebook page and the film's release on the digital platform filmefilme.com.br. Produced in partnership between ABEA (Brazilian Association for Architectural and Urban Planning Education) and IAB/RJ (Institute of Architects of Brazil – Rio de Janeiro), the film was sponsored by CAU/RJ (Council of Architecture and Urbanism of Rio de Janeiro) with the support of all Architecture and Urbanism entities in the state.



IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) will host Italian architect, professor, and artist Tarshito for an incredible Master Class on February 15, 2020, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The session will feature a presentation of his working method and an introduction to the spiritual masters who inspire his art. Elizabeth de Portzamparc, one of the few women leading large-scale architectural projects in a field dominated by men, will speak this Thursday, February 6, at 6:30 PM at the IAB on "New Architecture, New Worldview." Elizabeth de Portzamparc is a member of the Honorary Committee and a spokesperson for the 27th World Congress of Architects (UIA 2020), affiliated with UNESCO, which will be held in July in Rio de Janeiro.


Mercedes Viegas Arte Contemporânea will open the exhibition "Adalberto Mecarelli – Luz +" on December 12, 2019, at 7:00 PM for guests, and the following day for the general public. The exhibition features works by the artist, who was born in Terni, Italy, in 1946, and has been based in Paris for 50 years. This is the first exhibition in Brazil by the sculptor, whose abstract constructive approach is noted for research into light and shadow and solar light recordings. Their work is featured in various public spaces across European countries, including France, Italy, and Germany. "The exhibition primarily presents light sculptures that engage with the gallery space—geometric forms sculpted by shadow," notes curator Elisa Byington, who selected works by the artist spanning various techniques and materials.


Ser Urbano is an annual event hosted by the Architecture and Urbanism program at PUC-Rio. Organized by students, the event reflects their concerns within the field of architecture and urbanism, aiming to stimulate critical and creative thinking in the academic environment. The week-long program, which features roundtables, debates, and film screenings, reaches its 10th edition this year.

The IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) will host Italian designer Gianni Cinti for the lecture "The Future of Fashion" on October 19 at 7:00 PM. The discussion is rooted in the concept that designers are crucial players in the sustainability game. Indeed, it is necessary to reclaim a design methodology linked to "making" and "inventing"—elements that have always been inherent to the creator and are indispensable to the "Made in Italy" working method.

On October 8 at 7:30 PM, the Istituto Europeo di Design will host engineer Luiz Antonio Secco, one of the most prominent figures in Rio de Janeiro's retail sector, for the inaugural lecture of the Libero course in Retail Design, which begins on October 14.
