Simone Cadinelli Arte Contemporânea opens the exhibition "How to inhabit the present? Act 1 – Everything is coded fog" on July 20, 2020, featuring video works by 14 artists from across Brazil, installed in the gallery's window on Rua Aníbal Mendonça, in Ipanema. The videos will run 24 hours a day and can be viewed by passersby. The exhibition will be replicated on the gallery's website, with full information on the works and artists [https://www.simonecadinelli.com].
Curator Érika Nascimento explains that the exhibition "takes place in a pandemic world, where the notion of time—past, present, and future—seems to be dilated." "It is an exhibition-project," she explains, "in the sense of a projection toward new possible worlds, in an era when a virus distances our bodies and imposes limits and barriers on daily life, placing us in a state of anguish and helplessness, and highlighting major existing social abysses." "How to inhabit the present?" can be viewed "through the window of our cell phones, computers, or, in a possible universe, in the gallery's window," the curator observes.
Divided into two segments, the exhibition "How to inhabit the present?" brings together in its "Act 1 – Everything is coded fog" works by artists Anna Bella Geiger (Rio de Janeiro), Aslan Cabral (Recife), Fernando Velázquez (Montevideo, based in São Paulo), Gabriela Noujaim (Rio de Janeiro), Jeane Terra (Minas Gerais), Kammal João (Rio de Janeiro), Luzia Ribeiro (Rio de Janeiro), Manata Laudares (a duo of artists Franz Manata and Saulo Laudares, who live in Rio de Janeiro), Moisés Patrício (São Paulo), Nadam Guerra (Rio de Janeiro), PV Dias (Belém), Roberta Carvalho (Belém do Pará), Regina Pessoa (São Paulo), and Vinícius Monte (Rio de Janeiro).
