If quarantine has brought something positive into the lives of many people around the world, it is the opportunity to change up our daily routines and dive into new activities that we did not have time or energy for beforehand. Learning and delving into topics that interest us or that are related to our work is one of them.
Looking for a professional degree, post professional degree, or want to learn the difference? Want to see what a degree in architecture can mean for your future? On April 25, 2015, from 1:00pm - 5:00pm ET, the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) will host the ACSA Creative Futures: Architecture School Webinars Series. The four, 30-minute webinars will cover the following topics:
The latest BIM software from GRAPHISOFT was announced recently. ArchiCAD 17 will be shipping soon. The company has also announced an upcoming free online seminar that will familiarize you with all the new features and enhancements to the software.
Scheduled for June 18, the demonstration of ArchiCAD 17 will feature the actual model used to design one of Moscow's most prestigious buildings, the Mosfilmovskaya Street multi-purpose building complex.
All the information after the break.
Architects with diverse and interesting green projects in North America will present their work, illustrating best practices for achieving high performance design with exceptional aesthetic and sustainability standards. The panelists will discuss three projects – small, medium, and large — to share how sustainability concerns were integral to the design process. Topics to be covered include selecting appropriate materials and technology, deciding on energy saving strategies, balancing aesthetics with performance, meeting and managing client expectations, achieving eco-friendly buildings on time and within budget, utilizing building information modeling (BIM), and applying post-occupancy lessons learned.
While building information modeling (BIM) is traditionally thought of as being effective on large, complex projects, more and more architects are also using it on single-family residential projects to lower costs, speed construction process, and make better-performing, greener buildings. Hear from architects using BIM for residential work about the benefits-and some of the challenges.
Our profession is based upon collaboration, and tools like BIM have made it easy even on a broader scale, allowing teams to collaborate around the globe on the same project. Graphisoft will host a webinar with 22 architects working on the same model so you can see how it works.
