As the 19th International Architecture Exhibition enters its final week before closing on November 23, the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale offers a lens through which to revisit the ideas and experiments that have shaped this year's global architectural conversation. Curated by Carlo Ratti under the theme "Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.", the Biennale brings together more than 750 participants across national pavilions, collateral events, and city-wide installations. Framed around interconnected forms of intelligence, this edition examines architecture's role in navigating climatic instability, evolving technologies, and emerging forms of collaboration.

Opening on World Architecture Day, October 6, 2025, "Age of Nature" is a new exhibition at the Danish Architecture Center (DAC), on view until May 17, 2026. Presented in DAC's largest exhibition space, the show examines how architecture can evolve to support both human life and biodiversity, addressing one of the most pressing challenges of the time: redefining the relationship between the built environment and the natural world.

The 19th Biennale Architettura, which opened in Venice on May 10th, 2025, sees the Belgian pavilion transformed by an exhibition titled "Building Biospheres," curated by a team comprising landscape architect Bas Smets and biologist Stefano Mancuso. Initiated by the Flemish government and the Flanders Architecture Institute, this thought-provoking exhibit explores a transformative approach to architecture through the lens of plant intelligence.

Shigeru Ban has just launched the office’s most recent project in Nieuw Zuid in Antwerp, Belgium. Named Ban, after its creator, and in collaboration with Bureau Bouwtechniek, the complex puts in place a 25-story residential tower and a separate building, creating a total of 295 residential units. During the breaking ground ceremony, the architect also inaugurated an exhibition of images highlighting his humanitarian work in conflict and disaster areas, in near proximity to the construction site.

In parallel with the restoration works underway at the Notre Dame de Paris cathedral, the city of Paris has launched a design competition to redevelop the cathedral’s surroundings. On June 27, the jury announced the team led by landscape designer Bas Smets as the winner of the competition. The project, planned to start in 2024, will reimagine the square and the underground parking spaces beneath it, including the archeological crypt, the Jean XXIII square located behind the cathedral, the Seine riverbanks, and the adjacent streets. This extensive project aims to bring Parisians back to the heart of Paris and welcome the 12 million visitors coming each year in better conditions.
