Architects and designers, just like all citizens, have a responsibility to participate in global conversations regarding the environment. Their power, however, lies in the fact that they are able to make an impact through the conscious decisions they make with their projects, such as sustainable building materials or expressive artworks.

To shed light on the current climate crisis, artist Alicja Biala and architect Iwo Borkowicz have created Totemy, a series of 9-meter-tall sculptures that translate the state of the environment into an immersive architectural experience.

Competition: Musical Theater in Poznan

The City of Poznań invites to participate in an open international architectural competition on development of architectural conception for seat of the Musical Theatre in Poznan.

The area of the competition is located in the western part of the city, at the corner of Św. Marcin and Skośna streets, in the immediate vicinity of the Music Academy and the railway.

The Competition will be held in polish.

Participants: team composed of an architect, acoustician and stage technologist.

Prizes (gross):

I prize in the amount of PLN 80.000,00

II prize in the amount of PLN 50.000,00

III prize in the amount of PLN 30.000,00

3 distinctions PLN 20.000,00

Flanagan Lawrence's New Summer Theatre in Szczecin Reimagines an Outdoor Performance Space from 1976

Flanagan Lawrence has won a competition to design a new Summer Theatre in Kasprowicza Park, Szczecin, Poland. The outdoor performance space will update an original structure, including the arch—made from a membrane of plastic fibres—designed by Zbigniew Abrahamowicz and opened to the public in 1976.
