'Arctic Nordic Alpine' is dedicated to contemporary architecture in vulnerable landscapes, focussing on the influence interventions could have on regions with extreme climatic conditions. The exhibition presents pioneering projects by the internationally renowned architecture and design firm Snøhetta, including the energy-efficient Hotel Svart in Svartisen, the Arctic World Archive Visitor Center in Svalbard Island and the Museum Quarter in Bolzano. These buildings illustrate that architecture can make a significant contribution to the mitigation of climate change by promoting a more sustainable use of nature with innovative strategies and solutions – in dialogue with landscape.

Pascal Schumacher’s unique aptitude and sensitivity with the vibraphone are unparalleled, having been developed in no less than four of Europe’s most notable conservatories including the Luxembourg Conservatory where he now teaches percussion and jazz vibraphone. Over a 25-year career, he has explored the links that exist between many musical genres, making it difficult to pigeon–hole his talent, taste or musical influences. Schumacher has made a name for himself in a variety of collaborative endeavours from trios and quartets to symphonic orchestras, with a repertoire that spans contemporary classical music to pop-infused jazz.

Architecture is a serious matter – in that respect, OVO Grąbczewscy is no exception. Functional, constructive, legal, and financial requirements, as well as client expectations, mean that architecture is the most “unfree” of all the arts, and the trend is rising. In order to retain the creative freedom necessary for their profession, the architects have developed the thesis of “playing architecture”. This enables them – despite stringent conditions – to apply their vision, research, and sense of freedom, fun, and humor as they see fit.

The exhibition will be one of the projects in the anniversary exhibition programme celebrating AEDES' 40th anniversary. It has been chosen as a significant social project and a unique example of support for young architects at the national level. "The Russian youth architecture Biennale is truly unique – there is nothing like it in the world,” says Kristin Feireiss, founder of AEDES Architecture Forum, curator, architecture critic, and member of the jury for the Pritzker Prize. “And the fact that Russia was the first country to organize a competition like this is eloquent evidence of its interest in motivating, supporting, and promoting the future generation of Russian architects."
