Badshahpur IT Park Proposal / 10 Design

Composed of ten buildings, the proposal by 10 Design for the Badshahpur IT Park is set across a sinuous series of adjacent plots of varied ownership. The challenge was to create a common identity across the site, a hierarchy of amenity spaces, and a strategy for future expansion (or contraction) of the campus. The ambition was to create a vibrant and inclusive work environment that meets the expectations of today’s IT graduate candidate / employee, and the employers that seek to attract the same talent. Summer International Shopping Mall / 10 Design

Construction for the Summer International Shopping Mall in , China has begun. The project is a mixed-use, 360,000 sqm development is designed by 10 Design and led by partner Gordon Affleck. The client challenged the design to move beyond the “black box” retail model, resulting in the diverse arrangement of forms and spaces of the final design.   Follow us after the break for more on this project.

Dalian Planning Museum / 10 Design

The design for the new Dalian Planning Museum by 10 Design in Dalian, is envisioned to become a new civic sculpture at the heart of the city’s main governmental district.  The building is part of the first steps made by the Planning Bureau to promote landmark architecture in Dalian with an additional seven municipal civil projects, including a library, scientific center, urban planning exhibition, museum, and teenage activity center.  The Planning Building will serve as a modern, first-class venue for offices and exhibitions, and more importantly, an addition of cultural engagement for the public within the city.  The museum is also designed to be an example of technological innovation and sustainable practices.

An Erupting Stability: Tornado Proof Suburb / 10 DESIGN

“Erupting Stability: Proof Suburb” is a project being developed by Ted Givens, AIA, of 10 Design in Hong Kong.  He and his team are researching ways to apply kinetic design to architecture in order to provide safe options for shelter in climatically unsafe environments.  The goal is to break free from static ways of building and create a method of using that learns from and responds to the environment in a dynamic way.  ”Erupting Stability” assesses the forces of tornadoes and high velocity winds, specifically, by the way that he and his team are thinking about architecture opens up a range of possibilities for applications in any disaster scenario.

Infinity Loop Bridge / 10 Design + Buro Happold

Creating a gateway entry to south China’s new planned commercial hub, the winning competition proposal by 10 Design + Buro Happold for their Infinity Loop Bridge marks the connection of the Shizimen Canal to the Pearl River Delta. The 10 and Buro Happold team set out to create a simple and elegant structural solution for a bridge that would be a visual focal point both within the Shizimen District itself and along the Pearl River Delta coastline. Yabao Hi-Tech Enterprises Headquarter Park / 10 Design

Located in close proximity to the central zone of the Futian District in , China, 10 Design‘s main design concept for the Yabao Hi-Tech Enterprises Headquarter Park was to try and integrate the complex into the natural landscape. Defining a strong urban edge on the southwestern edge of the site, the buildings begin to dissolve into nature as they move northeast across the site towards the lake. This mix-used complex is designed for a multifaceted community, which includes living, working, shopping recreation, and tourism. More images and architects’ description after the break.

Dalian Library / 10 Design

The engaging and dynamic proposal for the Library by 10 design represents an attention for both an urban and internal connectivity. The library is intended to be a transformative environment that pulls visitors into a unique landscape. The building weaves into the ground creating a series of courtyards and topographic undulations- rooting itself, and then sweeping up into the air forming a bold urban landmark becoming a community center for the neighborhood. Architectural firm 10 Design from Shanghai and Hong Kong is inviting anyone of all ages – architects, students artists, all who are interested – to take part at their recently started competition, Re-thinking Shanghai 2012.

Partly driven by social and ecological sustainability issues of today’s society, they are trying to change the way people perceive architecture in by providing new solutions for areas witnessing major transformation in recent past. China-Taiwan Master Plan for CBD / 10 Design

10 Design architects has recently been awarded a 93 ha Masterplan for a CBD in Pingtan, a New Cross-Strait District for China and It’s Trading Partner, . Pingtan is planned as a new commercial hub to drive communication and commercial trade between China and . Part of the competition included the design of a new Cross Straits Forum including theatre, convention, exhibition and auxiliary commercial and cultural facilities. Hurricane Proof Housing Proposal

Hong Kong based architect Ted Givens of 10 Design has recently unveiled designs for tornado proof and hurricane proof . With the recent earthquake and hurricane events that have hit the eastern seaboard of the United States, it seems a fitting proposal for urban clustering on a residential scale.
