We are meeting again! After two years away from in-person events, we are thrilled to announce the seventh edition of our International Festival of Urban Interventions (FIIU). Presentations, discussions, and activities in various public spaces, along with exchanges on topics such as Neighborhoods & Culture, Active Mobility, Management and Planning, the Climate Crisis, and Care and Early Childhood, enrich this year's program. The Petroperú building, jointly designed by architects Walter Weberhofer and Daniel Arana Ríos, was the result of a state competition held by the military government of Velasco Alvarado in the early 1970s. The building, strategically located in the capital of Peru, within the prosperous district of San Isidro, was designed to house the recently created state company in charge of the whole petroleum process of the country (Petroperú S.A.). The monumental building, built and inaugurated in 1973, became the symbol of the newly installed regime.

Nearly 4 million Peruvians lack housing or basic services (according to the UN), placing the country third in Latin America for social housing deficits. In search of solutions, the Colegio de Arquitectos del Perú, in collaboration with its Cusco Regional chapter, is organizing the 17th National Congress of Architects, titled “Architecture and the City Since the Bicentennial: 200 Years of Building the Peruvian Habitat—Evaluation and New Directions,” to be held from December 2 to 5 in the city of Cusco.
