Welcome to West Hollywood and to episode 9 of Opening up. Talking through his passion project is Denis Devin Donner from the Los Angeles-based company Rudin Donner Design. This transformation started with a mansion lacking a defined entrance and reached its culmination with a gate that frames a beautiful view.

Grand entrances are the specialty of Bill Alam in episode 8 of Opening up, who is the Director of Sydney-based company Ultimate Doors and Joinery.

Situated in the village of Kaltenbach, amidst the Austrian mountains, is the head office of Empl. A manufacturer of fire-fighting trucks and other large vehicles with special functions, their products include off-road vehicles, mobile army hospitals and temperature-controlled trucks to carry food. Whatever their function, each vehicle is unique and has been composed with the greatest of care. The end products can be seen in Empl’s handover hall – a stylish production hall where vehicles are handed over to clients personally. The building has a total of five pivot doors, one of which is most notable. In episode four of Opening up, FritsJurgens gives a peek into this unique space.

The third and final part of "Stories of Lisbon's Light" focuses on a robust and daringly contrasting family home between the seven rolling hills of ‘the city of light’, Lisbon. Discover how architect Pedro Domingos designed a home where daylight and the river Tagus play the leading roles. With the residence facing the south, radical architectural choices had to be made to allow the light to flow through the entire residence.

Part two of "Stories of Lisbon's Light" takes place in Cascais, a vibrant seaside resort an hour away from Lisbon, hidden on the westernmost tip of the European continent. Right on the Riviera Portuguesa, architect Bruno Novo gave his modern, minimalist touch to a holiday villa where natural light plays the leading part. Focusing on natural elements and minimal touches that open up the spaces inside and outside, the house is made with a family holiday in mind.
