After the successful past Editions La Città Nuda The Naked City presents, in collaboration with Moso International e TAG Talent Garden Torino, the new international contest focalised on the "architecture in a box". This edition, organized by the Architects Giulia Desogus, Valerio Fogliati and Ambra Seghesio, will take place in Turin, in the neighbourhood Porta Palazzo.
LOAD, the eARThouse2016 Designing Team is pleased to announce the Earth Architecture Workshop 2016! We look for volunteers, experts, professionals, students of architecture and landscape to locate the completed unit and blend it with the rural surrounding, interior design to organize the interior spaces, product the furniture and fittings, photography/video arts for a documentary and artists to create works of art to adorn the various spaces.African students are welcome to do their part in the building project. Students can use the opportunity for internship, personal research or thesis.

Jonathan Tuckey Design’s work will be exhibited at 6-8 Stable Street, N1 in the heart of London’s King’s Cross redevelopment where the practice is currently designing the interiors of The Gasholders apartments.
The exhibition will look at over a decade of work within the context of opposing approaches to the restoration of buildings as exemplified in the writings and works of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc and John Ruskin.
Open Set is a two-week thematic program consisting of a series of intensive one or three day workshops, symposiums and film screenings, led by Dutch and international designers, artists and researchers. Our goal is to promote and enhance the social value of design by facilitating debates around the chosen theme from a rich diversity of perspectives, design trends, traditions, and cross-disciplinary cultural practices. The event aims to offer international participants a studio environment where they are inspired to step out of their comfort zone and question the conventional ways of working, experiment with different strategies, techniques, ideas and cross-sector collaborations in order to develop their own practices with confidence.
In this three-day in-depth workshop, internationally acclaimed architectural photographer Jeffrey Jacobs will share extensive details of how he lights and captures the architectural images that have garnered recognition worldwide. The TWA Flight Center, designed by Eero Saarinen, opened to the public in 1962 and has been out of use since 2001. On the evening of Sunday, May 8th, Storefront for Art and Architecture’s 2016 Spring Benefit, BEYOND BORDERS, will be the last public event to be held at the iconic terminal before its redevelopment.
The purpose of the architectural competition is to bring attractive ideological solutions for the proposal of a new multi-purpose building of the philharmonic orchestra in České Budějovice. The British Twentieth Century Society (C20) have announced a forthcoming conference in London on Postmodernism. Speakers including Sir Terry Farrell, Piers Gough and Charles Holland (Ordinary Architecture) will join Alan Powers, Emily Gee and Elain Harwood of Historic England to "raise the profile of Britain’s best Postmodernist buildings following concerns over proposed changes to leading examples of this much maligned style."
The Department of Spatial and Sustainable Design, Vienna University of Technology, and the Society of Architecture and Spatial Design is organizing the BLUE AWARD, an international student competition for sustainable architecture. The prize is overseen by the UIA, International Union of Architects, represented by its former President Albert Dubler.
The aim of the Sleeping competition is to develop design proposals for the hotel typology – a place to sleep. It is asked to the participants to create innovative and unconventional projects on this theme, questioning the very basis of the notion of hotel. Recently many initiatives, such as Airbnb and Couch-surfing, have been proposing new interpretations of the function of hotels, developing extremely successful business models. With similar creative attitude the participants are urged to create an artefact, merging considerable programmatic innovation and valuable design tools. The proposal can be a device, a piece of furniture, an interior design project, a pavilion, a building or a urban plan. Scale of intervention, program dimensions and location are not given and they can be arranged by the participants to better suit their project.

The Brazilian artist Roberto Burle Marx (1909-1994) is one of the most prominent landscape architects of the twentieth century. His famous projects range from the remarkable mosaic pavements on the seaside avenue of Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach to the multitude of gardens that embellish Brasilia, one of several-large scale projects he executed in collaboration with famed architect Oscar Niemeyer. Although his landscape design work is renowned worldwide, the artist’s work in other media remains little known. Roberto Burle Marx: Brazilian Modernist therefore explores the richness and breadth of the artist’s oeuvre—from landscape architecture to painting, from sculpture to theater design, from tapestries to jewelry.
In 2016, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded the Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) a grant of $60,800 to administer the SAH/Mellon Author Awards. These awards are designed to provide financial relief to scholars who are publishing their first monograph on the history of the built environment, and who are responsible for paying for rights and permissions for images or for commissioning maps, charts or line drawings in their publications. The publication of a monograph continues to be the most valued demonstration of scholarly competence for career advancement and recognition in the humanities. Unfortunately, many authors today must provide both a fully realized text and the financial resources for its image program. The cost for image rights and licensing, especially for digital publications, can be prohibitively expensive.
The Metropolitan Government of Seoul announces an international competition in order to establish a music-led cultural complex by 2018, in which domestic and oversea specialists from various fields of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design are invited to participate. The government have established a program including the necessary facilities and the scale considering citizen participation and publicity for the realization of the proposed operation program.
