Castro Abierto is a festival of architecture, landscape, and heritage that invites the public to rediscover the commune by visiting spaces of high architectural, environmental, urban, social, and cultural value free of charge on March 30 and 31.
This event will take place for the first time in both urban and rural Castro during the last weekend of March. Seventeen spaces will open their doors to the public, offering guided tours led by architects, community leaders, carpenters, managers, neighbors, and the property owners themselves.
This inaugural edition of Castro Abierto aims to create a space for exchange among the various members of the island community to reflect on its cultural landscape and how the processes of territorial transformation affect us all. Accordingly, on March 30 and 31, visitors will be able to explore the following spaces:

Pablo Allard S., Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Art at the Universidad del Desarrollo, and Flavio Sciaraffia M., Director of GeoAdaptive Chile and professor in the Master of City and Landscape program at UDD, are pleased to invite you to the launch of the book "From the South: Global Perspectives on Landscape and Territory."

This Thursday, a new edition of the "Architecture and Women in Chile" panel will take place. This session will be held at the National Headquarters of the Colegio de Arquitectos de Chile. We will host four prominent architects who will share their work, career paths, and experience regarding city and gender issues. Don't miss it!

Earlier this year, we unveiled the trends that will influence urban and architectural discussions in 2019, and we discovered a broad interest among our readers in topics related to Natural Resource Management, such as water—a concept that saw an 84% increase in searches on our site during 2018.
In line with this, the Superintendencia de Servicios Sanitarios will hold a seminar this month to reflect on issues related to water treatment in Chile for the year 2030.
