Homo Urbanus – A Citymatographic Odyssey by Bêka & Lemoine
For fifteen years now, Bêka & Lemoine have been investigating how people relate to space: how they inhabit it, how they appropriate it, and how they shape it. Their extensive, and still ongoing, film project ‘Homo Urbanus’ depicts the peculiar species of the urban dweller by exploring the daily life of ten world cities.
NAPOLI SUPER MODERN Everyone seems ‘to know’ Naples, even those who have never been there: its setting, its sounds, its people, its tastes, its informality and, not least, its stories, shaped by the fervour with which the inhabitants live this city. As numerous as these narratives are reproduced in literature, music, or film, countless stories about eras, styles, and uses also overlap in the city's architecture. To avoid being drawn in by stereotypes, guides are needed to decipher this delightful cacophony.
From 9–15 May 2022, a new platform for architecture and urban development will be held for the first time: the Architekturwoche Basel (AWB), which is to be repeated every two years in future. Initiated by the Architektur Dialoge Foundation and organized under artistic director Chrissie Muhr, the inaugural edition of AWB 2022 addresses the theme of “Reale Räume” (Real Spaces) – examining how globalization, digitalization, migration, climate change and the pandemic affect the urban spaces around us. Featuring over 100 lectures, guided tours, workshops, exhibitions, films, concerts and performances, the programme is aimed at a broad public. The events will take place in Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft and neighbouring regions of France and Germany.
