This is not an easy competition to win. So ask yourself these questions.

Do you have an artistic take on animation or motion graphics? Can you turn drawings of architecture into beautiful and meaningful digital imagery?

If your answer is “yes”, this is your change to join the international competition Utzon Unbuilt and help Utzon Center bring the Danish architect Jørn Utzon’s unbuilt masterpieces back to life.

Utzon UNBUILT seeks to understand the innermost being of Jørn Utzon’s architecture and to reimagine some of his many unbuilt projects.

So, we urge all entrants to go into dialogue with the fascinating world

Reiulf Ramstad's Exhibition at the Utzon Center Investigates the Local-Global Architect

Reiulf Ramstad Architects will inaugurate a new exhibition series “In the World of an Architect” at The Utzon Center, focusing on “architecture and design created in the tension field between local and global.” The exhibition will consist of a number of spatial installations spread across five rooms, setting out the concept of “Nordic” and appreciating the importance of the architects’ standpoint.

Rather than cancel the importance of a regionally-based building tradition in a globalized profession, the exhibition invites a more diverse, nuanced understanding of what it means to be a Nordic architect in a globalized era.

Utzon UNBUILT Competition to Shed New Light on the Danish Master's Works - and Invites the Public to Take Part

Jorn Utzon’s name is, for most people, tied inextricably to his most famous work: the Sydney Opera House. Completed in 1973, the project was named a World Heritage Site in 2007, making Utzon only the second architect (after Oscar Niemeyer) to receive such an honor in his lifetime. The project is arguably the most recognizable and significant works of architecture of the 20th century and remains a work ahead of its time. But the uncompromising detail and futuristic design of Utzon’s work left many of his projects unrealized or unknown by the time of his death in 2008.

SOM's "Alternative Christmas Tree" Rises at Utzon Center in Denmark

An “alternative Christmas tree” designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) has been erected in the courtyard of the Utzon Center, coinciding with SOM’s current exhibition, ‘Sky’s the Limit’. Located on the waterfront in Aalborg, Denmark, the Utzon Center was the last project to be designed by the center’s namesake, renowned Danish architect Jørn Utzon.
