The aim of the “Training” competition is to develop a design proposal for the sport facility typology, intended as a place where physical activity and/or sports entertainment can occur. Participants are asked to create innovative and unconventional projects on this theme, questioning the very basis of the notion of sport facility. After the recent closure of the European football cup and the Olympic games, you are asked to reinvent the way sports can be practiced, and how they can be used to entertain. 

How will everyday life evolve in the cities of tomorrow? What kind of changes will smart systems, technologies of automation and constant connectivity bring? Which new economic models might emerge and what will the role of the particularities of different geographical areas be? How will the development of the future cities affect the environment and the natural resources of the planet?

The Schindler Global Award is back – and it’s moving from Shenzhen to São Paulo! One of the most prominent student urban design competitions is open for entries again now. The Schindler Global Award 2017 is focused on the impact and implications of current and future mobility systems in one of the most globally significant cities in South America: São Paulo.

Vietnam and Cambodia, countries with dynamic economies and young populations, possess a rich and wide-ranging architectural heritage. This SAH Field Seminar will explore the fascinating architectural landscape of Vietnam, focusing in particular on the modern era from the nineteenth century to today. In addition, participants will visit the spectacular Angkor complex in Cambodia, capital of the Khmer empire from the ninth to fifteenth century.

The 2015 Shenzhen Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism exhibits, makes, and discusses architecture that reflects the reuse and rethinking of existing buildings, the re-imagination of our cities, and the remaking of our daily lives by design. It is be a biennale of fragments, not abstract plans; of collage, not grids; of tactical urbanism, not top-down strategies.

International staircase design specialist, EeStairs - has launched the second edition of its Staircase Design Competition. Open to anyone who wishes to participate - the entries will be shortlisted by a panel of expert judges before the winners are decided by public vote in February 2016. In March, two cash prizes of £2,000 each, will be awarded at a prize giving ceremony.

EeStairs is on the hunt for individuals who will look beyond staircases and balustrades as functional components of architecture, but instead combine practicality and artistic imagination to create truly outstanding designs.

More than 20 years of activity of 3LHD, the authors of some of the key works of recent Croatian architecture, such as Hotel Lone in Rovinj, Riva Split Waterfront, or the Zamet Centre in Rijeka, has been marked by changes in architectural practice. During the continuous office growth and the increase in the scope and complexity of tasks, 3LHD has developed work methodologies in which an architectural firm is primarily a platform for coordinated production and exchange of knowledge.

The art installation, Salt - Microcosm of Life[Style] is currently exhibiting at 2015 Bi-city Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Hong Kong Edition). Stanley Pun and Rina Ko are recent graduates from London and Hong Kong and the work is a reflection of what ability do we have to influence the way we want to live - by changing our perspectives - and in turn, how it could shape our future city.

W​ide Open Arts is hosting their annual curated exhibit from January 21-­24, 2016. This year the art fair will feature a massive 3D printed city of towers designed by hundreds of individuals from across the world. They are looking for artists, architects and designers to submit 3D designs of contemporary, modern and ancient towers.
