The Federal University of Ceará (UFC), in partnership with the Institute of Architects of Brazil – Ceará Department (IAB/CE), has launched the National Public Competition for Architecture, Urbanism, and Landscape Design for the UFC Arts, Culture, and Events Center, a project that will occupy one of the most symbolic sites along the Fortaleza waterfront. Registration has been open since August 13 and continues until October 6, 2026, with the final deadline for proposal submissions on October 21, 2026.

The Community of Madrid and the Leganés City Council have launched an urban planning project competition to solicit the best planning proposals for the sustainable and innovative development of the new "Puerta de Madrid" neighborhood, which borders the established Leganés Norte neighborhood to the north and east. This urban development will be managed through a consortium involving both administrations.

Community of Madrid, (Madrid's Regional Government) and the City Council of Leganés have launched an urban planning design contest aimed at obtaining the best planning proposals for the sustainable and innovative development of the new "Puerta de Madrid" district, located adjacent to the north and east of the established Leganés Norte neighbourhood. This urban development will be managed through a consortium in which both public administrations will participate.
The area features the Butarque Stream as its main environmental structuring element, that connects with other natural areas through the Arco Verde and Bosque Metropolitano ecological corridors.
Covering more than one million square metres, this development will allocate approximately 40% of its surface area to green spaces and public open areas, while the remaining 60% will be dedicated to public facilities, tertiary uses and residential use.
Approximately 4,000 dwellings are planned within the new district. Of these, around 1,500 will be market-rate homes of various typologies, while 2,500 units will be delivered through public housing schemes or affordable rental programmes.
The selected proposals must be fully integrated into the wider urban context and will incorporate advanced criteria in the fields of environmental sustainability, urban innovation, energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, climate resilience and social cohesion.
A specialised jury will evaluate the submissions and select the three best proposals. Subsequently, through a procurement procedure, the winning teams will be eligible to compete for the award of a service contract for drafting the planning instrument that will define the urban development framework of the future district.

The competition aims to create synergy with Busan's waterfront redevelopment initiatives and transform the existing summer-only facility into a year-round family-oriented destination, developing it as an eco-friendly waterfront leisure space.
Under the theme "Establishing a Spatial Service Model for a Year-Round Family Water Recreation (Swimming Pool) and Leisure Complex," the competition invites design proposals that reflect the ecological, environmental, and cultural values of the aging outdoor swimming pool located within Hwamyeong Ecological Park.

The International Sustainable Building Competition will be held at COP31 and will be open to participants from all countries, with the aim to promote energy-efficient, low-carbon, climate-resilient, and sustainable building practices, highlight best solutions, and support their global dissemination.

planning process for the development of the Capital City Cemetery of Pristina,
conceived as a contemporary civic, memorial, landscape, and digital public
infrastructure of long-term importance.
The project aims to establish a new model for cemetery planning and funeral
infrastructure in Kosovo, based on:

The process has been developed through continuous dialogue and consultation with
representatives of religious communities, institutional stakeholders, technical experts,

The future cemetery complex is envisioned not merely as a burial ground, but as a
carefully designed landscape of memory, reflection, peace, coexistence, civic identity,
and long-term collective responsibility.

Showcase your project at the 25th Tile of Spain Awards

Registration is now open for the second edition of Weefor ARQ, an open competition to design a residential building in Curitiba. Organized by the developer Weefor in partnership with PROJETO magazine, this launch marks the start of an unusual initiative in the construction sector, which is typically dominated by competitions for public works.

The City of Araraquara, through the Executive Coordination of Housing and the Housing Projects Management office, both under the Secretariat of Urban Development, has opened registration for the "National Public Architectural Design Competition for Social Interest Housing." The competition aims to select designs based on pre-established criteria regarding technology, comfort, performance, and sustainability.

Firms not associated with AsBEA/RJ (new talent) must pay a registration fee of R$ 510.00. This is a one-time fee, regardless of the number of projects submitted to the awards. Should a non-associated firm choose to join the organization, the amount paid will be applied as a credit toward their membership dues.

The City of Gramado, in partnership with the Institute of Architects of Brazil - Rio Grande do Sul Department (IAB/RS), is promoting the National Public Landscape Architecture Competition for the Redevelopment of the surroundings of Lake Joaquina Rita Bier.

Emergency initiatives to combat the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic through architecture and urbanism are now eligible for funding from the CAU/SC. On Tuesday, May 26, the Council launched Public Call No. 01/2020, which allocates R$ 75,000 to projects benefiting families in socioeconomic vulnerability, specifically within the realms of Social Interest Housing and Education, Research, and Extension.

On April 18, the Brazilian Institute of Architects, Federal District Department (IAB-DF), launched the "CRP/DF Headquarters Competition." This single-stage competition aims to select and contract the best interior design, lighting, and visual communication proposal for the 450m² CRP 01/DF headquarters, located at the Brasília Rádio Center in Brasília, DF.

The deadline for the national public competition for the requalification of the Senac building complex in downtown Belo Horizonte has been extended to February 15. The competition was launched last December by Senac in Minas and the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB). Participation is open to professionals, either individually or as the technical lead of an architecture and urbanism firm. The Council of Architecture and Urbanism of São Paulo (CAU/SP), in partnership with the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB), is launching a National Public Competition for Architecture and Urbanism projects to renovate its headquarters, located at 194 Rua Quinze de Novembro, in the city's historic Triângulo district. Registration is scheduled to open on November 7.

The Loja Urban Laboratory is a multi-stakeholder, creative, and innovative space that seeks to support and strengthen local public policy for the comprehensive improvement of neighborhoods and public space through a holistic and sustainable approach. The laboratory’s work contributes to building an inclusive, safe, and equitable city by strengthening an intervention model for peripheral urban neighborhoods, promoting planned and sustainable urban development while optimizing land use and occupancy. The core focus of comprehensive neighborhood improvement is based on the recovery, activation, and appropriation of public space through citizen participation, promoting universal access and enjoyment for all as an exercise of rights, and as a foundation for the right to the city.

The General Secretariat of Urban Agenda, Housing and Architecture of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda, in collaboration with the Arquia Foundation, has launched this ideas competition, open from February 19 to April 10 (inclusive), aimed at young architects up to 45 years of age.
