Architecture and urban planning professionals from across Brazil have until March 30, 2023, to register for the "National Public Architecture and Urban Planning Competition for the Redevelopment of the Central Market of Campina Grande." According to the competition brief, project proposals may be submitted until April 18 and must cover the approximately 40,000 square meters of the Central Market, including: the Central Market; Largo do Pau do Meio; the Pau do Meio building; warehouses; the former Eldorado Casino; and the streets Deputado José Tavares; Marcílio Dias; Manoel Farias Leite; Dr. Carlos Agra; Dr. Antônio de Sá; Cristóvão Colombo; Pedro Álvares Cabral; and Manoel Pereira de Araújo.
The launch took place on Thursday (02/09) at the Campina Grande City Hall (PB), the competition's promoter. The organization is led by the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB), with support from the Council of Architecture and Urbanism (CAU/BR), the Council of Architecture and Urbanism of Paraíba (CAU/PB), the Institute of Architects of Brazil - Paraíba Department (IAB/PB), and the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN).
