Moscow's Strelka Institute has launched a series scholarships that will cover expenses for its first joint master’s programme with the HSE Graduate School of Urbanism, called ‘Advanced Urban Design’. Three scholarships will be granted to remarkable emerging leaders in the spheres of urban design and research to fully pursue a two-year study.

In the natural world, adaptation is a competitive advantage. Yet the built environment is frequently characterized by rigid typologies and inflexible designs. How can buildings keep pace with changing cultures and contexts? In “Adaptation,” the 2016 James Harrison Steedman Fellowship in Architecture call for research proposals, early-career architects are challenged to explore how flexibility and adaptive response might be better incorporated into the design process. The winning research proposal will receive $50,000 to support up to a year of international travel and research.
The DANIEL GÖSSLER AWARD for an outstanding work of architectural theory will be conferred for the third time in 2016. All theoretical works that address relevant issues in current architecture and urban planning debates are eligible. The works should make a serious contribution to the current discourse and should refer to the socio-political context. Entries must have been published since 2011 and may not have previously been submitted for the DANIEL GÖSSLER AWARD. Works concerned primarily with architectural history are not eligible. Non-German entries must be submitted in German or English translation.
For European architects eager to expand their knowledge of contemporary architecture, SCI-Arc, the Southern California Institute of Architecture, has just announced the launch of a full tuition scholarship specifically for citizens of the European Union to study at the SCI-Arc campus in Los Angeles, California.

The ARCASIA Travel Prize in Architecture is the travel and research scholarship given annually to Young Architects of ARCASIA (40 years and under) and member of the institute of their country. The emphasis of the traveling scholarship is not only to promote research in the selected fields of study, but also to encourage cross border education as well as to foster cultural exchange between nations and institutes. Sponsored by NS Bluescope (Thailand), this year is the second year of the ARCASIA Travel Prize. Applications are open for the Art Residency Grants in Oficinas do Convento - Cultural Association for Art and Communication (OC) in Montemor-o-Novo, Portugal. We have launched three vacancies for Art Residencies to take place between September and December 2016.
This Contest for Grants by OC intends to implement a self-funded programme through the application fees. The application have a 20 euros fee and this amount will be used to create the three Residencies.

From 4/1/2016 through 5/31/2016, up-and-coming Landscape Architects can compete for the opportunity to visit New Orleans and attend the 2016 ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects) Meeting & Expo. Twenty-one winners will each be awarded $2,000 to help cover attendance, as well as receive national recognition.

These awards are designed to provide financial relief to scholars who are publishing their first monograph on the history of the built environment, and who are responsible for paying for rights and permissions for images or for commissioning maps, charts or line drawings in their publications.

For over 20 years the American Institute of Architects UK Chapter 'Excellence in Design Awards' programme has proven highly valued by architects as they confer trans-Atlantic recognition for design excellence. Professional entries are sought from architects, industrial designers, urban planners, landscape architects and interior designers based in Britain, and from around the world for completed projects in the UK.
Het Nieuwe Instituut, the Dutch institute for architecture, design, and digital culture in Rotterdam, have announced an open call for three research fellows to work in residence between June and December 2016. Alongside the institute’s exhibitions, lectures, publications, and archives, the Fellowship program will explore and challenge how research is conducted within an institutional context, pursuing alternatives to the expectation of predetermined outcomes, the use of official jargon, and the inertia power of the curriculum vitae. In the long term, the program is also intended to complement, reflect on, interact with, and critique the ongoing activities of the institute.

In its inaugural year, the Brooklyn + Queens Design Awards (BQDA) program has been established to encourage excellence in architectural design, to raise public awareness of the built environment and to honor the architects, owners and builders of significant projects within the two boroughs.
