The course in Architecture for Humanities was born to train designers who know how to compose meaningful architectures even in the most complex contexts to bring quality and beauty where you are not used to seeing it. Today, pandemic, economic crisis, migration and climate change have turned every area -from the periphery of our metropolis to the most remote tropical village- into what can be defined as “emergency context”.

YAC - Young Architects Competitions and Dartagnans launch Tree House Module, a competition of ideas aiming to design and realize a tree house system to sit amidst the oneiric French castles of Vibrac, Mothe Chandeniers, and Ebaupinay. YAC - Young Architects Competitions launches “Ghost Town Refuge”, a competition of ideas aiming to design contemporary refuges among the ruins of the ancient Craco in order to delight visitors with a sublime experience: living among ruins and falling asleep under the uncovered vaults of a ghost town. A cash prize of € 15,000 will be awarded to the winners selected by an outstanding jury panel comprised of David Chipperfield, Joao Carrilho da Graça, Ian Ritchie, Alberto Veiga, Benedetta Tagliabue (Miralles Tagliabue), among others.

Bivacco Bredy is the title of the project designed by Claudio Araya, Natalia Kogia, Iga Majorek and Maria Valese, a young team of architects who attended the latest edition of YACademy’s course in Architecture for Landscape.

A total prize of 15,000€ will be awarded to winners selected by a renowned international jury that features Sou Fujimoto, Kongjian Yu (Turenscape), Patrick Lüth (Snøhetta) and Michele De Lucchi, among others.

YAC – Young Architects Competitions – and the Municipality of Favignana, in cooperation with the Italian Government, launch “Art Prison”, an architectural competition to refurbish a breathtaking fortress on a scattered island in southern Sicily. A cash prize of € 20,000 will be awarded to the winners selected by an internationally-renowned featuring Daniel Libeskind (Studio Libeskind), Manuel Aires Mateus (Aires Mateus), Felix Perasso (Snøhetta), João Luís Carrilho da Graça (Carrilho da Graça Arquitectos).

YAC – Young Architects Competitions – and Centergross launch “Italian Fashion Hub”, an architectural competition to redevelop a multi-service area of the wider fashion district in Europe. A cash prize of € 20,000 will be awarded to the winners selected by an internationally-renowned jury made by, among the others, Patrik Schumacher (Zaha Hadid Architects), Ben Gilmartin (Diller Scofidio + Renfro), Marie Hesseldahl (3XN), Aurélien Coulanges (Ateliers Jean Nouvel).

YAC – Young Architects Competitions – launches “Pinocchio Children’s Library,” an architectural competition to design a library dedicated to Pinocchio’s Adventures and available to children and adults alike. The initiative is in cooperation with the Foundation Carlo Collodi and supported by the Council of Architects of Pistoia, the School of Fine Arts of Florence, Touring Club, ISI Florence, and Casabella magazine, and it is part of the wider project “Collodi European Capital of Culture”. A cash prize of € 20,000 will be awarded to the winners selected by an internationally-renowned jury made by, among the others, Italo Rota, Fabio Novembre, Fedele Canosa (MECANOO Architecten), and Emmanuelle Moureaux.

YAC – Young Architects Competitions – and Marlegno s.r.l. announce the winners of Castle Resort, the international architectural competition launched last November in cooperation with the Italian Government. The aim of this contest of ideas was to convert a medieval fortress into an exclusive tourist facility combining architecture and nature in order to enhance the historic and landscape value of this dream location in Roccamandolfi, in Southern Italy.

YAC – Young Architects Competitions –launches Observatory Houses, a € 20,000 cash prize open architectural competition aiming at the design of a hotel-observatory in the area of the castle of Roccascalegna, in Central Italy. The competition is in cooperation with the Italian State Property Agency – Italian Government, Italian Exhibition Group, the Municipality of Roccascalegna, Casabella, Associazione Italiana Confindustria Alberghi. The internationally-renowned jury gathers, among others, Enrique Sobejano, Rodrigo Duque Motta, Simon Frommenwiler co-founder of HHF Architects, Nicodemos Tsolakis, Felix Perasso from Snohetta. A total of € 20.000 in prize money will be awarded and winner projects will be published on international architecture and design platforms.

YAC – Young Architects Competitions – and Corradi s.r.l. announce Wedding Oasis, an architectural competition aiming at the design of outdoor living structures to enhance the high potential of historical sites like the Castello of Rosciano (Central Italy). The international jury is made of outstanding personalities such as, among the others, David Chipperfield Architects and Will Alsop. A total amount of € 20,000 in cash prize will be awarded to the winner proposals.
