Danish architects BIG shared with us their 7,000 sqm school project for the city of Asminderød in Denmark. More images and architect’s description after the break.
With its simple geometry and classical arrangement, Stockholm’s Public Library is a difficult building to characterize. Designed by noted Swedish architect Gunnar Asplund during the 1920s, the library is the physical manifestation of a transitionary period in both the rationale of its designer and the shifting values of European architecture. The ultimate result is a deceptively complex synthesis of styles presented in a visually straightforward package: the fading influence of Neoclassicism juxtaposed against the emergence of Rationalism.
Burke Culligan Deegan’s design for the Aoibhneas Children’s Centre won the international competition administered by by the RIAI (Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland). The new children’s centre is an addition to the existing women’s refuge in Dublin, Ireland. The philosophy of the design was to aid growth and recovery in an uplifting environment for women and children who were temporary residents in the refuge.

The Morogoro International School, located in the southern highlands of Tanzania, serves as a model for sustainability and modular architecture for society. With the idea of having the school simultaneously serve as a community hub, Alma-nac architects believed they could achieve this best through their repeating linear form with an emphasis on environmental control strategies.
