The exhibition «Swim City», held at the S AM Swiss Architecture Museum from the 25th of May to the 29th of September 2019, is the first to draw attention to a particular contemporary phenomenon in urban space: river swimming as a mass movement. Swiss cities have played a leading role in the development of this activity over the last few decades, gradually opening up the river as a natural public space within the built environment. The river has thereby become a place of leisure, open to all, located right in front of residents’ doors and seamlessly integrated into everyday life. The rest of the world looks on in awe at this bathing culture, seeing it as an example of how waterways in cities can be reclaimed for the people in order to sustainably improve the quality of life in urban centers.

The Fundació Mies van der Rohe, together with BOZAR and UNINA, promotes the European project Artists in Architecture. Re-activating Modern European Houses. As the fourth great bay area in the world, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is an important spatial carrier for China to build world-class city group and engage with the world. In accordance with the requirements of "relying on Hongkong, serving the mainland and facing the world", Qianhai has undertaken a number of national strategic goals that include these four major national strategic missions-Free Trade Zone, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation, One Belt One Road and Innovation-driven Development. It is the Special Zone in Special Zones. The 2019 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship opens today and welcomes applications from architecture students enrolled in schools of architecture around the world. A £7,000 grant will be awarded to one winner by a panel of judges which will include Lord Foster and RIBA President Ben Derbyshire.

The social catastrophe of Latin America has its epicenter in popular settlements.

It is in Latin America, the most urbanized and unequal region in the world, where 104 million people live in popular settlements. Here, 1 of every 4 inhabitants of urban areas, lives in a slum, villa, favela or camp, in a situation of poverty. These populations must subsist by their own means, with the constant violation of their rights.

SAY IT LOUD

The exhibition features projects by the diverse design professionals, as well as quotes and video interviews on their experiences in the architecture and design professions. The concept of this exhibit is "To see our faces, hear our voices, feel our impact within the colorful tapestry of our heritage." SAY IT LOUD is the activation of a national movement of sharing, protecting and celebrating the journey of the underrepresented to inspire the next generation. SAY IT LOUD engages diverse audiences through programming organized at the time of exhibition to elevate the identities and contributions of minority architects and designers with, curated lectures, and documentaries that testify to the provided value of their built work and its spatial impact. To date, our SAY IT LOUD exhibitions have been viewed by an estimate total 22,000 visitors since January 2017. From inception, multiple online publications (such as Curbed and The Architects Newspaper) with large subscription bases have helped promote the exhibitions further expanding its impact. Featured firms expressed an increase in business which they attributed to the exhibition and reporting on SAY IT LOUD.

Since graduating from the Cooper Union School of Architecture in 1996, Vladimir Belogolovsky has crossed disciplinary boundaries by transitioning from practicing architecture to becoming an exhibition curator and critic to evolving as a conceptual installation artist in his pursuit of continuously scrutinizing two fundamental questions – what is an exhibition and what is architecture?

The $100,000 RAIC International Prize for transformative architecture is inviting submissions for its third edition, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) is pleased to announce.
