IDEA-TOPS Organizing Committee has announced the 10th International Space Design Award, calling for marvelous projects of interior design and architecture from around the world. The winners will be selected by an international jury, which is consisted of senior experts in the field, with the principles of being professional, rigorous, fair and just.

Dwelling (A House) remains the place where we all spent most of the time of our lives and experience architecture, learn connect to it through emotions. A dwelling represents our culture our backgrounds, ownership, safety. A dwelling is a place we all want to return where everyone finds comfort, despite how chaotic our lives are.

The Al Wathba Wetland Reserve in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi is home to a vibrance of wildlife, the most famous of which are its flamingo population. The magnificent waves of pink flock to the reserve every autumn to spend the cooler winter months residing in the wetlands until spring, as many as 4,000 at a time.

The second issue of Room will reconvene in the Kitchen; a space that savors the possibilities of both cultural appreciation and cross contamination, serving basic sustenance and special occasions. Taste here is significant though subjective, with its stainless steel tongue wiped perpetually in an attempt to cleanse the palate. Nuanced residues of gender, class, labour, race, and climate cling to the cloth among germs and grains of salt.

Every year, the Festival is visited by a large public. In 2019, it received 19 000 visitors and has been widely published in France and abroad.
For the 15th edition, the Festival des Architectures Vives in Montpellier will take place from June the 9th to the 14th 2020. The festival thematic is Transition. The FAV will keep to aware a wide public to architecture, to highlight a young generation of architects and to discover places from the urban heritage.

Did you know that a number of Glenn Murcutt AO’s designed projects have never—or not yet—been realised? Even so, thanks to Virtual Reality (VR) technology, you can now experience some of them in digitally rendered form—as close to finalised as they’ll get, at least for now. By this process, with Glenn’s full support and assistance, Sydney-based Sissons Architects are bringing two of his projects to life in extraordinary detail: the Donaldson House in Somers, Victoria, and a private house in Mount White, New South Wales.

Anna Puigjaner is an Associate Professor of Professional Practice at Columbia GSAPP. She unites theory and practice by combining academic, research, and editorial work with the professional activity of MAIO, an architectural office co-founded in Barcelona in 2012. Her ongoing research and writing on the “Kitchenless City” received Harvard GSD’s Wheelwright Prize in 2016 and has been published in different forms, including in The Quantified Home (Lars Müller Publishers, 2014) and Together! The New Architecture of the Collective (Ruby Press, 2017).
