Similar to our #mOOO3 ISO[NATION] competition, we are donating everything we receive to the World Health Organization (WHO) COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. This time, we invite you to cross-pollinating public health initiatives with physical infrastructures.

The Companion to Architectural Research (CAP) will examine the question: Why is research important in architecture?

2020 has radically reconfigured our relationship with our immediate surroundings. The outbreak of COVID-19 and subsequent shutdown of cities around the world have kept many people confined to their homes and neighborhoods, prompting them to observe both their domestic spaces and the surrounding streets at a new level of detail. A few months later, the murder of George Floyd led to protests on a scale not seen since the civil rights movement, with people around the world taking over public spaces to demand justice for Black and brown communities.

The caves of northern Iceland are popular tourist spots, with thermal pools, breathtaking landscape, and backdrops made famous by Game of Thrones. Grjótagjá is a collection of three caves which are located near each other and have been a popular bathing spot for locals since the 1940s.

The International Scientific Conference SWS Vienna ART 2020 is organized as an extended session of the SWS International Scientific Conferences on SOCIAL SCIENCES. The event will be held in the biggest and most historically Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna, Austria in the period of 9 – 12 December 2020.

There are many ways of designing environmentally-responsible and resource-efficient structures and cities, with amazing innovations and advances introduced every day. These include everything from smart homes and photovoltaic glass to centrally organized power networks, modular building, and even self-healing bio-concrete.

The Earth is in a chaotic and confusing state right now, with the future of our society not entirely clear. But in a world of COVID-19 and climate change, now is the time to reflect on the positive aspects of humanity and its many great achievements.

Melbourne is the capital city of Victoria, Australia, and holds the title of the country’s fastest-growing city. Melbourne had a growth rate of 2.7% from 2016 to 2017, seeing an increase of 125,000 citizens. Experts predict that in order to keep up with the growing population, Melbourne will need 1.6 million new homes to be constructed over the next 35 years, with estimates putting the population over five million by 2021, and over eight million by 2050.

The second annual MICROHOME architecture competition is part of the Bee Breeders Small Scale Architecture Appreciation Movement, which hopes to highlight the fact that bigger isn’t always better. With great design and innovative thinking, small-scale architecture could change how this and the next generation view residential property.

Contemporary Art Room Gallery is proud to announce their 1st “Landscapes” Online Art Competition for the month of January 2020. This is an international competition and artists from around the world are welcome to submit their work. The gallery invites all artists and photographers from around the world to submit their best representational and non-representational art related to the Landscapes theme. The Landscapes theme is considered to be any art with interpretation of natural elements such as mountains, hills, valleys, deserts, forests, farmland, trees, rivers, lakes, polar regions, rainforests, islands and tropical landscapes. All visual art mediums are acceptable (painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, digital, prints, fiber art, collage or installation art) except sound and video art.

The Graduate Program in Urban Design is focused on creating new, equitable,beautiful, and sustainable forms and technologies for the city and urban life. Committed to both experiment and amelioration, the two-semester program focuses, each year, on a New York City site and, after a research visit, on design of a city in a demanding environment abroad. We believe trans-disciplinary designers in general and urban designers in particular are in an ideal position to positively contribute to re-envisioning a series of global urban realities in crisis. Through cultural, technological, environmental, and social engagement, we can harvest a newly found design adroitness to address the problems that render our cities less just, less plural, less safe, unproductive, and environmentally deficient. The Urban Design program seeks emergent urban narratives that can guide design through the aforementioned surplus of practices, orbiting epistemes, and technologies addressing the city.

All seemingly brought back into scale by its various public transportation and infrastructural systems. Within the confines of the crevasses of the bustling metropolis goes the unseen networks; whether they be physical, non-physical, or emotional habits that the new generation of live/workforce is tuned to.

On December 30th, 2019, Pasadena Heritage invites you and your holiday guests to take walking tours featuring some of Pasadena’s unique architectural treasures and/or visit Pasadena Heritage’s 1893 headquarters to see a presentation featuring Pasadena’s historic architecture in the movies! The call for applications will be open until December 31st, 2019 for architects and students of architecture and related fields. Individual authors or groups are welcome to apply. The selected applicants will develop their concepts in cooperation with the team at Kolektiv Gallery and the curator Andjelka Bnin-Bninski. Kolektiv Gallery will cover the exhibition production costs, travel and accommodation for international authors.

With four categories to win from, we are celebrating the extensive variety of drawings that are created around the world each year.

From Beaux-Arts to Bauhaus, and the polytechnic schools to the present-day schools, paradigms of design education have shifted and evolved, each experimenting with different pedagogical philosophies and methodologies, relevant to their context. How are the contemporary pedagogy modeled and structured? What are the methods explored and experimented, and why? How are the contemporary design educations align with the shifting topography of culture and environment? What are the emerging opportunities of design education within today’s social, cultural and ecological context?
