Pasadena Architectural Legacy Walking Tours and Presentation

On December 30th, 2019, Pasadena Heritage invites you and your holiday guests to take walking tours featuring some of Pasadena’s unique architectural treasures and/or visit Pasadena Heritage’s 1893 headquarters to see a presentation featuring Pasadena’s historic architecture in the movies! Attendees have the opportunity to participate in two different walking tours and the movie presentation, each with a 10:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. start time!

Pasadena Hillcrest Neighborhood Walking Tour
Discover one of Pasadena’s most beautiful neighborhoods with the Hillcrest Walking Tour, which takes you by many grand homes in a variety of architectural styles. The Oak Knoll subdivision, of which Hillcrest is part, was intended to rival the wealthy neighborhoods of Orange Grove and the “West Side” (San Rafael and Linda Vista), so many of the estate-size lots were intended for custom home development. Showcased on the tour are numerous mansions along with large Craftsman homes such as the Freeman House designed by architects Arthur and Alfred Heineman and the Culbertson House and Blacker House both designed by Charles and Henry Greene.

Bungalow Heaven Walking Tour
True to its name, Bungalow Heaven is Pasadena's oldest and largest Landmark District featuring over 800 glorious bungalows! Bungalow Heaven was designated a landmark district in 1989, after more than four years of work by neighborhood residents dedicated to preserving the look and feel of the area. The neighborhood continues to have honors bestowed upon it. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Sunset Magazine named it one of the “Best in the West” places to live and the American Planning Association has named it among its list of America’s Top 10 Great Places – the only one in California!

Pasadena in The Movies Presentation
Pasadena buildings and cityscapes have been used in hundreds of films, TV shows, and commercials as varied as “Father of the Bride,” “Batman,” “Chinatown,” and even “Gone with the Wind.” See Pasadena’s many starring roles in our presentation about film locations. Included are gracious tree-lined streets featuring recognizable residences, iconic public buildings, and breathtaking vistas, all related to movies and shows you’ll recognize or be surprised to learn about! Theater-style snacks will be provided as well as a drive-yourself list of the locations featured in the presentation.
