Choreographies, an installation at the 4th Lisbon Architecture Triennale by Pedro Alonso and Hugo Palmarola, presents the construction of building sites as cultural and political archetypes. By critically contesting comic films and animated cartoons released in the United States and the Soviet Union between 1921 and 1980, it presents construction sites as places in which ideology and imagination were combined through the choreographic movements of hanging steel-beams in the US, and flying concrete-panels in the USSR. These building components symbolize the construction of the modern world, the technological optimism of industrialization, the relevance of the building process over the completed building, and the standing of workers—welders, riveters and crane operators—against the vanishing figure of the architect.

XX OSSA (National Meetings of Architecture Students) International Architectural Workshops
OSSA architectural workshop is a yearly initiative of the Polish Association of Architecture Students. This year’s edition will take place between October 15th to 23rd in Zakopane. On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the reconstruction of the Barcelona Pavilion, the Fundació Mies van der Rohe has organised a symposium, presided over by Juan José Lahuerta, on the figure of Mies van der Rohe and the German Pavilion for the 1929 Barcelona International Exhibition.
The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) returns fall event programming to the calendar beginning in 2016. In conjunction with the organization’s 60th anniversary, the AIAS will be presenting four AIAS Fall Research Symposium for students in each AIAS Quad. With the successful completion of the first three International PUARL Conferences at the University of Oregon in Portland in 2009, 2011, and 2013 (in cooperation with ARUS), and the latest conference carried out in cooperation with PURPLSOC, the "World Conference on Pattern Languages" at the Danube University of Krems in Austria in the summer of 2015, the PUARL Conference Series has reached a new level of interdisciplinary involvement and a new international format and organization. The annual conferences will continue to alternate between Europe and the US covering the large and growing body of work in the emerging discipline of Regenerative Processes in our Urban Environments. We at the Portland Urban Architecture Research Laboratory are therefore pleased to announce the next conference entitled "The Regenerative City." It will focus on various aspects of Regeneration in the City, the nature and quality of evidence-based approaches to urban challenges, including the pattern language approach, and planning and design issues that we are facing in urban environments and buildings throughout the world today. This conference will take place in San Francisco in the Fall of 2016, October 28-30 in cooperation with PURPLSOC, the Collaborative for Inclusive Urbanism (CIU), and University of San Francisco (USF).
