The Academic Work Competition for the Architecture and Urbanism program (CONTRAU) at Universidade Paulista (UNIP) aims to promote and highlight the semester-long projects produced by students in architecture and urbanism courses. Furthermore, it seeks to publicize proposals for interventions in both built and unbuilt spaces in São José do Rio Preto and the surrounding region.

Japanese architecture, a global benchmark, is once again in the spotlight at Japan House São Paulo, this time with an exhibition detailing the work of Tsuyoshi Tane, a prominent Japanese architect on the current global stage. "Tsuyoshi Tane | Archaeology of the Future – Memory & Vision" runs from August 6 to October 13, 2019, and invites visitors to dive into the architect's creative project development process.

Twenty years ago, a demand from the society of Mato Grosso do Sul was met. A group of professors from the Civil Engineering program formed the inaugural faculty of the newly established Architecture and Urbanism program at UFMS. Over the years, many have contributed to this program, including faculty, staff, and students. Now, in 2019, we are launching a year of celebrations to reflect, discuss, and continue building an even better program. Our first event will take place from October 21 to 25, featuring an opening session with individuals who have shaped our history, followed by a series of workshops, lectures, and activities that mark the start of these two decades of commemoration.

Starting September 14, 2019, the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (MAM) presents the exhibition "Zanine 100 Years – Form and Resistance," featuring 18 works by the renowned architect, designer, artist, landscape architect, and professor José Zanine Caldas (1919–2001), stemming from his deep research into native woods. Curated by MAM design curator Tulio Mariante, the selected works represent Zanine’s iconic and prolific production between the late 1960s and 1980s, known as "protest furniture." Crafted from solid wood, these pieces were a pioneering indictment of deforestation in Brazilian forests. Mariante notes that Zanine "collected wood from logging remnants, often irregular, as a form of protest and resistance."

Aiming to create a network of educators connected to global education trends, the "HUB: Connections for the Future of Education" conference will bring together education professionals on June 7th and 8th at Exc.Rio in the Jockey Club of Rio de Janeiro—a vibrant space for major gatherings with an inspiring view. Now in its second edition, the event has established itself on the annual calendar of major industry meetings and reinforces its identity as part of a movement to transform education through inspiring experiences.

The National Meeting of Architecture and Urbanism Students (ENEA) is an annual project organized by the National Federation of Architecture and Urbanism Students (FeNEA). ENEAs address topics related to architecture and urbanism education through immersive experiences, workshops, discussion circles, plenary sessions, congresses, and other activities.

Whether it is a fleeting snapshot or a professional record, people have never photographed an era as much as they do today. The mobile phone, acting almost as an extension of the body, creates various connections between us, time, and space; it is through this daily photography that we document our time. As an exercise in observation and selection, this mobile photography workshop will address the relationship between street photography and architectural photography, including a field trip to Sesc 24 de Maio, in São Paulo.

Objective: Demystify NBR 15575 by understanding the concepts and the ideal way to meet the standard's requirements.

The social function of architecture and the challenges of the profession in the context of a new era will be the subject of a lecture by Rio de Janeiro native Tainá de Paula.

The event, which has been running since June 8, concludes next Saturday, June 29, with a lecture by Marcelo Barbosa (Bacco Arquitetos). Held over four Saturday morning sessions, the program has also featured presentations by Cristiane Muniz (Una Arquitetos), Marcos Boldarini (Boldarini Arquitetos), and Marta Moreira (MMBB Arquitetos).

To highlight the themes of Urban October, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) office in Brazil created the Urban Circuit in 2018—a call for events organized by various stakeholders on topics related to Urban October. The second edition of the Urban Circuit in 2019 will feature the general theme "Innovative and Inclusive Cities" and the guiding question: "How can innovation improve urban services and policies in an inclusive and sustainable way?"

August is approaching, and with it, our "Architecture Meetings" return.

For those unfamiliar, the idea behind these meetings is to discuss contemporary Brazilian architectural production, organized by theme. The conversation will feature professionals active in the field of architecture and will be moderated by an external guest or a member of the group formed by IABsp to curate this activity.

The Architecture and Urbanism Week (SAU) at UNIFAP is an annual event organized as a university extension initiative. It is primarily student-led, with at least one tenured faculty member serving as the director and primary liaison.
This year’s edition, VIII SAU: Create Yourself, City!, aims to present and discuss the Creative Cities Network program by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The program seeks to foster international cooperation among cities that invest in culture and creativity as drivers of sustainable development. The theme will be explored through three tracks focused on the city of Macapá, Amapá: Creative processes in the city; Perception and memory of the city; and Sustainability and self-management practices.
For this edition, SAU is accepting submissions of academic work in three distinct categories: scientific articles, graphic works (physical models, photography, video, and sketchbooks), and posters. These will subsequently be published in the event proceedings.
Over the course of the four-day event, the organizers aim to bring together students, faculty, researchers, and professionals to discuss the theme through lectures, roundtable discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities.

Cinecubo is a film club hosted by the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB) aimed at fostering dialogue between audiovisual and architectural languages and debating perspectives on the city. On the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM, Cinecubo screens films followed by a discussion at the IAB-sp headquarters. Curated and moderated by Nana Maiolini, Travessia Filmes, and guests, the sessions are free and open to the general public.
