Exhibition "Boundaries Collapse, Forgotten Distances Emerge"

Niterói will host the exhibition "Let Limits Collapse, Let Forgotten Distances Appear," opening on October 5 at the Espaço Cultural Correios. The exhibition features Alberto Saraiva, Enéas Valle, Lígia Teixeira, Marilou Winograd, Mario Camargo, Mark Engel, Marcelo Palmar Rezende, and Petrillo. Curated by Mario Camargo, the show offers an immersion into the artists' poetic universe, reflecting on freedom and providing a profound look at the human existential condition—specifically their own. The curator notes that "being an artist is a state whose meaning is composed of layers, material techniques, forms, and colors, in a constant overflow of sensations."

Call for projects for the Insurgent Experiences exhibition at the "Insurgencies: Experiences in Public Spaces, Rio 2023" event

Call for Projects - Insurgent Experiences

Works by Hélio Oiticica return to public view after 37 years

In 1986, the first posthumous exhibition of Hélio Oiticica (1937 – 1980) was held, organized by the HO Project, which was coordinated at the time by Lygia Pape, Luciano Figueiredo, and Wally Salomão. For this exhibition, titled “O q faço é música” (What I do is music) and held at the Galeria de Arte São Paulo, the project produced unique editions of the iconic works “Relevo Espacial, 1959/1986” and “Parangolé P4 Capa 1, 1964/1986” to raise funds for the organization, cataloging, and conservation of the works and documents left by the artist.

Conversation at the "What music lies within you" exhibition, at Galeria Athena

Next Saturday, October 28, at 7:00 PM, a conversation will be held between curator Fernanda Lopes and artists Andro Silva, Atelier Sanitário (Daniel Murgel and Leandro Barboza), Hugo Houayek, Natália Quinderé (Seis gentes dançam no museu), and Rafael Alonso at Galeria Athena. The event is part of the exhibition "O que há de música em você," which has just been extended until December 2, 2023, due to popular demand. The conversation is free and open to the public.

Yoko Nishio at the Galeria do Lago, Museu da República

On December 9, the exhibition "Corpo Formoso" will open at the Galeria do Lago in the Museu da República. It features 11 new paintings by Rio-based artist Yoko Nishio, marking her first solo exhibition following her participation in various group shows at the Museu da República itself, the Centro Cultural Correios in Niterói, and Sesc Teresópolis, among other renowned museums and galleries.

Exhibition "Around the 80s with Luiz Aquila"

The art scene vibrated with the arrival of the new decade. He attributed significance to the number eight—"round and also a symbol of infinity"—yet, consciously or not, a strong sense of optimism prevailed, driven by the impending end of the dictatorship.
Marking a particularly significant milestone as he celebrates his 80th birthday, Aquila, considered one of the most active painters of his generation, presents "Em Torno dos 80," a memorable exhibition defined by warm and meaningful reunions. Opening on August 26, the exhibition honors the master with the participation of artists who worked alongside him at Parque Lage during the 1980s—a period marked by a resurgence of freedom of expression, particularly within the realm of painting.

Exhibition "Triennale Milano. A History in Posters"

In its seventh edition, the "Italian Design Day"—an initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its global diplomatic-cultural network—will be celebrated in Rio de Janeiro with a series of events organized by the Italian Cultural Institute, in partnership with the Consulate of Italy, the Triennale di Milano Foundation, PUC-Rio, and the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED).

Exhibition "The Little Big World of Flavio Papi"

The Little Big World of Flavio Papi began to take shape early in his childhood, when he first started producing models and miniature sculptures. At age six, he began drawing with Augusto Rodrigues at the "Escolinha de Artes do Brasil," followed by a period at the MAM under Ivan Serpa from age seven to twelve. His architectural background—as he is an architect in addition to being a visual artist and model maker—greatly benefited his small-scale projects. Today, Flavio Papi is considered the foremost Brazilian model maker, boasting an extensive and distinguished portfolio of work for advertising, film, and television (including TV Globo, the defunct Manchete, and Record). On February 9, "The Little Big World of Flavio Papi" will open at the Centro Cultural Correios RJ. Curated by Dinah Guimarães, the exhibition offers a retrospective of his more than 60-year career, bringing together drawings, paintings, sculptures, and models.

Ana Holck at Paço Imperial

On December 2, Paço Imperial will open the exhibition "Entroncados, Enroscados e Estirados," featuring new works by Rio de Janeiro-based artist Ana Holck. The exhibition marks a new phase in her distinguished 22-year career. Curated by Felipe Scovino, the show presents eight works from the three series that give the exhibition its name. Produced this year using porcelain and stainless steel—materials the artist had not previously utilized—the works bridge the concepts of painting and sculpture.

Course "Landscape Architecture Design"

We are pleased to announce that the next course in the IAB-RJ Continuing Education Program has been scheduled!
