Nara Roesler Rio de Janeiro is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition "Between the Sea, the River, and the Stone" on February 11, 2025, at 6:00 PM. The exhibition features works by Pernambuco-based artist Marcelo Silveira in his first solo show in the city. The works will occupy the ground floor and the double-height wall beneath the skylight at Nara Roesler Rio de Janeiro, offering the public a comprehensive look at the artist's production, who has established himself as a major figure in the contemporary scene over his 40-year career. On the day of the opening, at 7:00 PM, there will be a guided tour of the exhibition with Marcelo Silveira and Daniela Name, author of the critical text.

Poetic collective hosts a gathering on June 28, with free admission

The activation is based on the work “Só por es-tar” [Just to Be] by the São Paulo-based visual artist and poet, which is part of a group exhibition inspired by a book by South Korean philosopher Byung-Chul Han.

The 3rd Academic Week of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (SemEA FAU UFRJ) is a free event, organized entirely by students with the support of FAU UFRJ, collectives, and academic institutions, aiming to expand debate and education through lectures, workshops, exhibitions, discussions, and cultural activities. In its third edition, the event will take place on October 1, 2, and 3, 2025, at the Jorge Machado Moreira Building, home to the FAU and the UFRJ School of Fine Arts.

Experimental films, polaroids, “film objects,” and previously unseen works by the Rio de Janeiro-based visual artist will occupy the Cavalariças starting March 28.
The solo exhibition brings together a collection of works in various formats, curated by André Sheik, tracing the artist’s experiences, concerns, travels, and friendships.

Bringing together approximately 160 works by renowned Black artists from Brazil and the United States, the exhibition "Ancestral: Afro-Americas" arrives at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil Rio de Janeiro on June 4, 2025. Under the artistic direction of Marcello Dantas and curated by Ana Beatriz Almeida, the exhibition celebrates the shared heritage and bonds between Afro-descendant peoples in Brazil and the United States within the field of visual arts, promoting a critical reflection on the African diaspora. The show also features a collection of adornments commonly known as "joias de crioula"—attire worn by Black women who achieved freedom in colonial Brazil, particularly in Bahia, as a way to express their ancestry—and a selection of African art from the Ivani and Jorge Yunes Collection, curated by Renato Araújo da Silva. These segments seek to identify, on one hand, the spaces where African ancestry was present during colonial Brazil and, on the other, its elements in art produced in its territory of origin.

In celebration of Women's History Month, IAB RJ is hosting a roundtable discussion titled "Women in the History of the IAB" on Thursday, March 20. The event is free, open to the public, and will take place in the organization's headquarters auditorium, starting at 6:30 PM.
