The 5th Latin American Meeting on the Introduction to Architectural Education, hosted in the city of Concepción, Chile, is an invitation to all faculty members of architecture schools across Latin America. This edition will feature professors from as far north as Mexico and as far south as Argentina. The congress aims to strengthen and expand the network between Latin American architecture schools to train the architects of the new millennium, while creating a space for reflection on successful teaching strategies with a renewed focus on achieving meaningful learning.

The International Committee of Architectural Critics CICA is pleased to announce an invitation to publishers, editors, curators and authors to submit their publications for consideration for the 10th CICA Awards 2020 by 30th November 2019. Soil is an organic material providing a sustainable base for life. Yet, polarized as degrading and dirty. How is it that soil can unite nations, yet divide people? What power does it have in cultivating the built environment and defining its boundaries?

The 4th {CURA} Award continues the initiative of hosting ideas competitions centered on themes aligned with current discussions in architecture, urbanism, and society, with a focus on contemporary Brazil. For the 4th {CURA} Award, the competition theme is: Museum of Democracy.

In our present moment, the incessant production of culture and knowledge imparts an important task to the notion of commitment. Knowledge and culture are produced in excess in institutions and popular culture, making it the impossible task of critics and scholars to sift through endless amounts of cultural material and make value judgements. Partly a consequence and a cause of a shift in thinking that began in the 1960s and 1970s, a phenomenon that could be called a democratization of production (of narratives, images, cultures) has had some positive effects for the civil rights movements, leading to the inclusion of underrepresented demographics into fields that were previously hostile to them. However, the consequences of the Postmodern debunking of universal truth (that was necessary for and produced by such a shift in thinking) has carried with it the accompanying erosion of the concept of morality. The last decade has seen a further dismantling of the universal notion of “truth” and its effects in politics—note the great difficulty for contemporary politicians to convincingly assert that something is morally correct and necessary. The statement that “truth is subjective,” once a great tool to undermine the dominant grand narratives of the past, is now freely used in the name of individual freedoms, often without assessing the morality of such freedoms.

Concéntrico 06, the International Festival of Architecture and Design of Logroño, will take place from April 29 to May 3, 2020. The festival invites reflection on the urban environment and the city through architecture and design proposals in various formats.

To this end, the festival is launching three international competitions for three specific sites. The objective is to create a Pavilion in the Plaza de Escuelas Trevijano and two installations: one at the Paseo del Espolón and another at Viña Lanciano for Bodegas LAN.

Population growth, increasing urbanisation and social change pose new challenges for architecture and urban planning. Reflecting these processes of change, Superscape opens a creative space for unconventional ideas meant to deliver new impulses to real-life architectural output and urban development. The biennial prize seeks to encourage innovative and visionary architectural concepts that explore new models of living and strategies for inhabiting an urban context over a broad expanse of 30 years.

In the longstanding tradition of self-made, winner-take-all fanaticism, now more than ever do we see a craving for attention that is pulling (or rather dragging) the field even further from its core values and closer to soulless squander.

The A’ Design Award was "born out of the desire to underline the best designs and well-designed products." It is an international award whose aim is to provide designers, architects, and innovators from all design fields with a platform to showcase their work and products to a global audience. Introduction

In 2019, the 2nd edition of Building 4Humanity Design Competition (B4H-DC) aims to address the notion of having architecture as a social and cultural facility, by seeking design ideas that would contribute towards the social inclusion and integration of Syrian war refugees in the Turkish border city of Reyhanlı. The competition has two separate categories: it welcomes submissions from students and recent graduates, as well as experienced professionals.

In September 2018, affected by the strong typhoon “Mangkhut”, the infrastructure in Xichong District was damaged to varying degrees, and it was one of the most affected areas in the city. We sincerely solicit forward-looking and innovative urban design concepts and schemes amongst domestic and international design institutions.
