In 2006, the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) launched the first Master of Collective Housing (MCH), an advanced professional postgraduate program focused on research in housing, urban planning, and energy efficiency. The value of this unique program lies in its exceptional teaching faculty and its practice-oriented, comprehensive design philosophy, which emphasizes the integration of theory and practice.
In 2016, UPM and ETH Zurich joined forces to establish the first UPM/ETH dual master's degree: the "UPM/ETH Master of Advanced Studies in Collective Housing." ETH Zurich, one of the world's leading universities for science and technology, signed a cooperation agreement to incorporate the MCH program into its own Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) curriculum, recognizing the degree as equivalent in authority to those offered by ETH Zurich.
The majority of the MCH curriculum is conducted at the Madrid campus. The School of Architecture (ETSAM) is located between Madrid's city center and its largest green space, Casa de Campo. Students are provided with dedicated workspaces, access to consulting teams, and full use of the university's library, facilities, and academic and cultural activities.
