OfficeNext announced the launch of its 8th annual international competition for best corporate interior projects.

Best Office Awards has been held since 2010 and it is the main Russian professional award in the field of corporate interiors design. Russian and foreign office projects are denoted with this award and the prize is given to the office architect and customer tandem.

Beam Camp, a specialized summer camp for building and collaboration located in Strafford, NH, announces its annual international search to find its 2017 Beam Projects. The large-scale collaborative projects are realized by Beam campers, aged 10-17, and staff at the camp’s 106-acre facility in Strafford, New Hampshire.

Projects are budgeted at $12,500. Winning designers receive a $3,000 honorarium, travel costs, and are invited to visit camp during the project’s production.

Proposals

Opportunity Space is an international design-build competition challenging multidisciplinary teams to propose a temporary, mobile structure that will support economic opportunity and social inclusion in Malmö, Sweden.

The winning team will receive a $10,000 prize, a $5,000 travel stipend, and up to $25,000 to cover the costs of implementing their proposal, including costs for materials and insurance.

Opportunity Space calls for multidisciplinary teams to bring design thinking to bear on both the built environment and social programs in order to achieve the following:

ARKxSITE is pleased to announce the SITE DWELLING international architecture ideas competition for architecture students and young architects.

The SITE DWELLING, located on the cliff of the bay, in the village of Salir do Porto, Portugal, aims to create a secluded destination, a place of retreat to engage with the landscape while providing shelter from the natural elements.  This is a place to stay and inhabit for a few days, offering visitors a unique experience in a very special setting; visitors must leave the space as they found it, empty.

Europe’s migration crisis has intensified the need for cities to develop new tools and strategies to help people build skills, earn a living, and establish their place in society. To address this challenge, New York-based design nonprofit Van Alen Institute has launched Opportunity Space, a competition inviting multidisciplinary teams to propose a temporary mobile structure in Malmö, Sweden that will support a wide range of social programs.

The winning team will receive a $10,000 prize, a $5,000 travel budget, and up to $25,000 to implement their proposal in and around Malmö’s Enskifteshagen Park for two months in spring 2017.

Ideasforward wants to give young creative people from around the world the opportunity to express their views on the future of societies through their innovative and visionary proposals. We are an experimental platform seeking progressive ideas that reflect on emerging themes. The eco design, sustainable architecture, new materials, concepts and technologies are compelling issues in the societies of the future and the involvement of the whole community is imperative.

COMPETITION THEME – “[RE]design BIG designs” the goal is to think as the great names of architecture and to re-think BIG icons and monuments on it’s historical and urban context bringing it to our current days. “WHAT IF it was designed BY YOU”?? “How would you do it??” “What would this city be like?” Those are questions that we want participants to answer. The first building to [RE]design is the Eiffel Tower.

Civil and social justice are the two most important fundamentals of human rights. The issues unequal civil rights and social injustice are not confined to a particular region and country but are a global phenomenon. These issues are a result of unequal resource distribution and unfair treatment of individuals with different traits i.e. race, culture, sexual orientation etc. Civil unrest broods violence and forces retaliation against the segregation and unfair laws and rules. The issues of civil and social injustice are more complex as they involve a wide category of issues such as a racial profiling, LGBT rights, equal opportunities (jobs and healthcare), ageism, criminal justice, freedom of speech, social security, immigration, internet privacy, bullying etc. 
The importance of civil rights still remains a non-issue at the global level. The champions of civil rights and social justice are often portrayed as enemies of the state, to hide the government inefficiencies. 

Experiences are intrinsically composed by the tangible and intangible architectures that trigger the senses. It is through this delicate exchange of sensory information that we create lasting impressions from space, objects and interactions. What new exchanges can we envision and suggest through meaningful design? We invite design thinkers to envision new modalities for exchange.

Propose an innovative “skin” in which humans could interact with their surrounding environments and everyday activities through the different intertwined senses. The proposed “skin”/ product could be at any scale and serve any function that the designer envisions.
