The NYCxDESIGN Awards honors outstanding products and projects in categories that span major areas of design, from architecture to interiors, from products to accessories, from craft to technology. Submissions are reviewed by a jury of design industry leaders. Winners and Honorees represent the very best design talent and are recognized at an awards ceremony and party on May 21 at the newly renovated Pier 17 at NYC's South Street Seaport. Winners will be published in Interior Design magazine, promoted on Interior Design’s digital channels, and presented with a custom award created by Lladró. Now in its third year, the NYCxDESIGN Awards is the highlight of NYCxDESIGN. Taking place this year from May 11-23, NYCxDESIGN showcases over a dozen design disciplines through exhibitions, installations, trade shows, panels, product launches, open studios, and more across the city’s five boroughs.

The primary objective of the Al Jouf International Public Library Redesign Competition is to update the library’s function, use of space and design, in order to create an environment that accommodates for modern cultural flow and activity. The initiative aims to rethink the library’s function and transform its interiors from an outdated storage space for books, into an open, flexible, energy efficient and sustainable community center. The competition is open to international bids, to enable diversity of submissions, as well as explore alternative solutions for space optimization and usage.

Future Campus – University College Dublin International Design Competition focuses on enhancing and enlivening University College Dublin’s (UCD’s) extensive campus. This competition – the first stage of which closes at 14:00 BST on Monday 26 March 2018 – is seeking an outstanding integrated multidisciplinary team for two much-needed design initiatives.

‘Through the Prison Wall’ - 'Contatto' between prisoners and citizens - is promoted in collaboration with the Prison of Lecce and has as its goal the rearrangement of Multipurpose Hall spaces. The competition requires the design and the construction of a movable wall of the Multipurpose Hall. The Multipurpose Hall is the place where people attend events and exhibitions open to the public. Here there is the contact between two worlds, free men, and inmates, city, and prison.
Call for Entries: DSGN Innovation Hub Scheme in Bali, Indonesia - International Competition 2018
DSGN (Design Student Global Network) officially launches its first international design competition! The winning proposal - an Innovation Hub development scheme for a rural community site in Bali, Indonesia - is to be built as part of the first series of international design workshops, beginning in early 2019. The center will then be used by the local community-based Five Pillar Foundation to collaborate and disseminate their skills classes for community development and social entrepreneurship.
The 'Lighthouse' competition involves the design of an un-manned structure with a light-source to aid the navigation of passing ships. The structure may be construction from any material, and innovation is encouraged. The only requirement is that the light-source is accessible for maintenance.
