Today, South Korea made it to South Africa’s World Cup Round of 16. We imagine that at IROJE KHM Architects they must be very happy. So to congratulate them, we decided to remember five amazing houses designed by them previously featured in ArchDaily. Check them all after the break.
Island House This site, where is floating on river and confronted the graceful landscape, was strongly recognized to me as a part of nature, from the first time that I met. From then, I started to visualize “the architectural nature” as a place of recreation. While maximizing the efficiency of landuse, the leaner concrete mass, that cherishes the courtyard where is filled with the water and the greenery, was laid out on this site along the irregular formed site line (read more…)
Hye Ro Hun This site is located in borderline between city and mountain. The view of the front side that is the east-side is clearing up, so the urban landscape of downtown Gwangju is seen. There are mountains by the rear-side as a nature and view. By opening transparent gate door, it starts to begin access into the house, along the long walkway where looks like architectural canyon (read more…)
Nok Sung Hun Because of contact with the nature and city, this site is the place where enjoy the sweet smell of the nature and pleasant sound of the nature and the convenience of the city. This house is consisted of two masses, one is main house and the other is guesthouse which is to be the representative image of this house. The cozy outdoor space between the two masses and dynamic space of main garden interact through the open framed wall which function as picturesque frame and landscape formative element (read more…)
Bu Yeon Dang This site that is located in city have the surrounding context of country and that is an inclined and an irregular form of land. In order to maximize the efficiency of landuse, the irregular form of site was converted to the form of architecture. As a result, the shape of site became the shape of architecture. Purple Hill House This scenic site is a part of the residential area developed in the natural greenery area of the mountain gwanggyo and that is located at the entrance area to trail to mountain. Merit = siteplan faced to evergreen mountain=Demerit=Facing not south but northwest=Lack of southern sunlight.
