Founded by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and the Canadian architect Raymond Moriyama, the $100,000 prize was created in 2014 to raise the international stature of the RAIC and the Canadian architectural profession, and to encourage Canadian architects to aspire to international excellence.

Running since 2009 and created to develop links between the financial industry and creative practitioners from around the world, this year the Future of Money Design Award invites artists and designers to imagine a counterfactual scenario from the history of money that reimagines how money could have developed if things had gone differently.

The Alexander Thomson Society is pleased to announce an international ideas competition open to architects and students of architecture to celebrate the work of Alexander 'Greek' Thomson, one of Glasgow’s greatest nineteenth century architects. It is being launched to coincide with the Year of Architecture 2016 and culminates in 2017 by an exhibition of selected entries to mark the bicentennial of the architect’s birth. The exhibition will take place in The Lighthouse, Scotland's Centre for Design and Architecture, housed in a Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed building.

The Blue Clay Country Spa architecture competition, in partnership with SRED Global real estate developers, is tasking participants with presenting designs for a countryside guest house that would specialise in providing health treatments using this unique and naturally occurring organic product. Blue clay has long been used in restorative treatments, and provides health and beauty benefits in its naturally occurring form. Blue Clay has an exceptionally high mineral content and been used for centuries for medicinal purposes. The research is still being carried out to this day to further understand the clay’s antibacterial properties.

Open International Competition (in German) – House of Youth, Heidelberg, Germany

Since the 1960s, the City of Heidelberg has run the very successful "Haus der Jugend“ (House of Youth), which now has to be remodeled to house its new program adequately. All age groups and educational backgrounds gather here and call it home. With its new building the "Haus der Jugend“ is set to continue and renew its citywide attractiveness and reputation concerning open youth work with children and teenagers. New and multifunctional interior and exterior spaces are needed to continue its success story.

The role of the Curator requires a comprehensive and multifaceted training that allows them to move in different contexts and platforms. The contemporary Curator investigates and identifies relevant issues and their relationships to, then, launch through exhibitions a narrative capable of catching the audience’s interest. A Curator’s work, therefore, encourages reflection and promotes new ways of perceiving and understanding architecture and design. The Master in Curatorship of Architecture and Design at IUAV (Venice, Italy) aims to train professionals capable of developing curatorial projects with a solid foundation in theory and critical thinking, coupled with a strong knowledge of strategies in exhibition making.

Virtually unknown until just a few years ago, Hilma af Klint produced her first abstract paintings in 1906, years ahead of traditional abstract pioneers like Kandinsky and Mondrian. 110 years later, she is still waiting for her due recognition - and a home for her collection. A Temple for Hilma seeks to address this by asking participants to imagine an art museum dedicated to Hilma af Klint and her work.

Nka Foundation invites submissions from creative practitioners and organizations dedicated to community placemaking to participate in its 2017 Land Art Competition. The competition is open to landscape architects, artists, curators, designers, architects, urban planners, structural engineers, university students and others from around the world to submit ideas for large-scale and site-specific public art installations based on site in rural Ghana. The submitted entries can be functional or nonfunctional works but must aim at creating a truly unique experience that becomes emblematic of what an arts village is and how it needs to function as a PLACE.

YAC launches Experiential Beer Garden, an architectural competition in cooperation with Unindustria (Italian Association of Industrials) aiming at the refurbishment of a dismissed industrial building that will become a cozy brewery enhancing Italian food and beer tradition. COMPETITION THEME – “[RE]design BIG designs” the goal is to think as the great names of architecture and to re-think BIG icons and monuments on it’s historical and urban context bringing it to our current days. “WHAT IF it was designed BY YOU”?? “How would you do it??” “What would this city be like?” Those are questions that we want participants to answer.
