Future eating, future drinking, future love, future working – what will our everyday life be like in the not too distant future?

The Laboratory is a cross-disciplinary workshop that brings together architects, artists and researchers to speculate about our life in the future. Participants are asked to develop written and drawn proposals about our life in tomorrow’s world through an exploration of our social, cultural, spatial and technological present.

The Laboratory will have input by experts from different fields such as architecture, nano science, entertainment design, trend research and photography. A series of field trips will explore centres of innovation

For the eleventh time the Bauwelt Award “First Works” will be tendered this year – from now on you can submit your first work. The Bauwelt Award (consisting of 6 awards of 5000 Euros each) applies to all categories of “First Work” – from the interior design of shops and stores to prototypal constructions, from public housing projects to the restructuring of a public space and to temporary interventions. Qualified for submission is every first work the submitter has realized on his or her own responsibility and which has been completed after September 30th, 2015.

One of the most frequent problems in slum areas is the unrelenting flood. Trying to respond to the problem, this competition invites Architecture students to contribute to designing a "Floor Aids House" which is used to accommodate people who are in slum areas during the flood.

The Union of Moscow architects invites professionals to the participation in The Open Architectural and Town-planning Competition “The Activation of the Kazan City Urban Functions in the Water Area of the Volga Bend”.
Kazan is a large city in the Volga region with a picturesque landscape and a rich variety of coastal zones. The embankment in a complex with a river facade forms the river gate to the city. However, inefficient use in combination with various unfavourable factors leads to the isolation of the coastal zones from the city itself and turns them – instead of being potential points of attraction

Wikitopia is an ambitious, cross-disciplinary research project, the goal of which is to realize technologically-enhanced future cities that can be continuously edited and improved by citizens like the online encyclopedia Wikipedia. Primarily funded by the Japanese government (Japan Science and Technology Agency MIRAI Program), the project is an international collaboration between multiple organizations and individuals spread across Japan and the US.

The event will take place from the 10th to 16th September 2018 in Portbou, a magical place on the Catalan Costa Brava. Four seven-day workshops of different disciplines - graphic design, product and space - to reflect on the communicative and social function of design. A new summer workshops programme to learn with the best international designers.

Design ‘N Gather, the much-heralded, annual global mosaic design competition created by Artaic – Innovative Mosaic and sponsored by Bostik Smart Adhesives, has just started accepting submissions for its 2018 edition.

The competition welcomes designers and collaborative groups from all disciplines to create a mosaic design using Artaic’s mosaic software, Tylist™.
