The Niagara Parks Commission has issued a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) to the Planning, Architectural and Landscape Architectural Consultant community, seeking assistance and support for the development of a Concept Master Plan for Queen Victoria Park.

The purpose of the Concept Master Plan is to establish a set of structured guidelines for the ongoing development, programming, and management of Niagara Parks lands within Queen Victoria Park, from Oakes Garden Theatre and its Rainbow Gardens to Kingsbridge Park.

The municipality of Madrid´s Area of Sustainable Urban Development, in collaboration with the Official College of Architects of Madrid, has announced a design competition to remodel eleven public plazas in the outskirts of the Spanish capital city as an urban regeneration strategy for the city´s periphery.

As part of the strategic plan, Regenerate Madrid, the competition, “Plaz-er”, seeks to “contribute to the creation of an upgrading program for the civic plazas located on the city´s periphery, understood as representative spaces with a singular and identifying character for the local areas population that should be reinforced through the new project."

Bimtool.com has already launched the official website of the first version of THEBIMCHALLENGE, which will allow participants to know the legal bases, advance their projects progress and save them until all requirements are met, the projects can be sent until August 24th.

The purpose of the Concept Master Plan is to establish a set of structured guidelines for the ongoing development, programming and management of Niagara Parks lands within Queen Victoria Park, from Oakes Garden Theatre and its Rainbow Gardens to Kingsbridge Park.
The goal of the Concept Master Plan is to carefully consider the many facets that ensure visitors will continue to enjoy one of the most spectacular Parks in the world, while preserving the Parks for future generations. The Plan will focus on how visitors connect emotionally and physically with the lands and spaces within Queen Victoria Park, examine connectivity and movement from within the study area and access from areas outside of it. The Plan will identify existing nodes like Oakes Garden Theatre, Grandview Market Place, Queen Victoria Place, Oak Hall and its golf course, Table Rock Visitor Centre and Kingsbridge Park, as well as potential nodes such as the historic former Power Plants, and the Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse. Natural heritage features within the Master Plan also include the Moraine, Dufferin Islands and the Niagara Gorge, which are important habitat for rare and/or endangered species.
The development of the Concept Master Plan will be based upon Niagara Parks’ vision and mandate and new Strategic Plan and will be a blueprint to lead the organization forward, by:
• Leveraging and activating Niagara Parks’ natural wonders and iconic experiences;
• Preserving and showcasing Niagara Parks’ rich heritage, culture and lifestyle;
• Supporting a dynamic business environment with a focus on investment attraction, connection to local communities, job creation and economic well-being; and;
• Taking experiences and services to the next level.

The workshop will produce strategic ideas and design interventions for JangHeung village. If you like to create, ideate, design and build - join us for a 5-day participatory immersion in a place which embodies the struggle of many localities around the world. Like so many other places, Ulleungdo is torn in between urban development and the preservation of their natural environment.

This free-to-enter, two-stage ideas competition is seeking forward-thinking, imaginative proposals to integrate sustainable placemaking with development and new infrastructure. The focus for the competition is the arc encompassing four of the UK’s fastest-growing and most productive centers: Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Northampton, and Oxford.

THE BENCH is an idea based design competition open to all ages and backgrounds. The challenge of the competition is to design and install a temporary structure on a street to transform the street environment to a form of public space. Following the success of the first international conference on “Conservation of Architectural Heritage“, the second version of the conference will take place in Luxor & Aswan, Egypt on the 5th of February, 2018 till the 8th of February, 2018. Scientific research will foster the attempt to improve the know-how in the field. Expected results include a better understanding of the problems facing architectural heritage, the development of policies favoring its conservation, the definition of practical guidelines and the organization of training and awareness activities. 

In response to this year’s Chicago Architecture Biennial prompting Make New History, the Chicago Architectural Club is pleased to announce the 2017 Burnham Prize Competition: Under the Dome. In partnership with the Chicago Architecture Biennial, a call for entries for the Burnham Prize is taking place with submissions due August 18th.

This open international competition aims to collect design works of public space for hutongs in Baitasi neighbourhood. Shortlisted works will be implemented in a simulated way during Beijing Design Week, and the winning designs will be selected by professional Jury and residents in the neighbourhood and will be made available as reference of the revitalization development in Baitasi neighbourhood, in a broader old-town area of Beijing and even in old towns throughout China.

The subject of the competition is an urban design idea proposal for the Trade Fairs Brno site and part of the Brno waterworks connected to adjacent terminal and Riviera recreation area, which will show new way of using the development areas and the possibilities of the better integration of the complex to the city organism. The proposal in the scope of the urban study will be processed on the entire territory in accordance with the competition brief.
