Grants will be awarded to selected proponent teams presenting viable and repeatable mass timber solutions for commercial and multi-family projects in California. The competition is being hosted by GovOps and administered by WoodWorks – Wood Products Council.

With the exhibition »Balkrishna Doshi: Architecture for the People« (30 March to 8 September 2019), Vitra Design Museum presents the first international retrospective about the 2018 Pritzker Prize laureate Balkrishna Doshi outside of Asia.

The renowned architect and urban planner is one of the few pioneers of modern architecture in his home country and the first Indian architect to receive the prestigious award. During over 60 years of practice, Doshi has realized a wide range of projects, adopting principles of modern architecture and adapting them to local culture, traditions, resources, and nature. Introduction

Many developing countries are seeking universal education, gender equality, and women's empowerment. Educating children helps reduce poverty and will give the next generation the tools to achieve upward mobility and conquer disease. Education also offers children a safe environment, with support, supervision, and socialization. Competition Brief

For the third time, the Lisbon Architecture Triennale presents the Début award to an architect or a practice in order to celebrate their achievements and encourage their career. Whoever applies, individually or collectively, will be evaluated by an international jury. Another group of influent nominators from Portugal and other parts of the world will also suggest other studios that will be invited to apply, besides submissions made by one's own initiative. With this new edition of the award, we hope to support new voices and forms of architectural practice. We also hope the award will contribute to these authors creative, intellectual and professional growth at crucial and potentially transformative stages in their careers.

[TRANS-] media is looking to the architecture and related fields for research and creative work that addresses the concept of media. Print media, radio, film, television, and the internet have conditioned our perception of physical and social space. Media specific to architecture has also influenced the convergence of material, space, and content, charting new directions in culture, society, and architectural discourse. In the fourth issue of [TRANS-] journal, we seek to understand the effects of media on the creation and interpretation of design and creative work by asking how media produces knowledge and theoretical discourse about architecture design and the related fields. Through [TRANS-] media we aim to explore the transposition of materials and messages in physical and social space. This exchange of material and immaterial factors extends to the way we communicate our ideas, verbally and visually, the physical matter we choose to do this through, and the ultimate way they are perceived. In short, media is the connection between idea and reality, creator and audience, past and present.

Landezine is calling all offices practicing landscape architecture to submit entries for the third edition of LILA – Landezine International Landscape Award by March 31st, 2018. This year, we have 4 categories and 7 awards.

All winning entries will have their concepts displayed as part of the City Blocks exhibit at The Leonardo. In addition to the cash prize, the top winner in each category will have their designs created using LEGO® bricks and will be displayed in the Leonardo’s City Blocks exhibit.
