Arquite-Tô: Sesc SP presents a series of events and activities related to architecture and the city

Starting today, Sesc São Paulo is hosting the Arquite-Tô project, which invites the public to imagine how the arts and architecture can articulate knowledge and more democratic ways of building, inhabiting, and enjoying space.

The project takes place at the Sesc Pinheiros unit, with a program that includes lectures, theatrical performances, workshops, film screenings, and other activities that engage with architecture and the city.

France inaugurates the Musée de la Romanité, a project by Brazilian architect Elizabeth de Portzamparc

On June 2nd, the "Musée de la Romanité" will open to the public in Nîmes, France. The project was designed by Brazilian architect and urban planner Elizabeth de Portzamparc, who won the international competition held by the city's municipal government in 2012.

38th Architecture and Urbanism Week – Reclaiming Origins – FAU UNITAU 40th Anniversary

In early 2018, the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of Taubaté marked its 40th anniversary. As the most traditional school of Architecture and Urbanism in the Paraíba region, it has introduced approximately 2,000 qualified professionals to the regional and state job markets, specializing in building construction, urbanism, landscape architecture, interior design, historic preservation, and more.
Hundreds of professors have taught at the department, enriching students' education and providing the professional and academic experience necessary for architects and urban planners.
The 38th SEMAU
Each year, the school hosts the Architecture and Urbanism Week, featuring academic, cultural, and social programming aimed at its internal community. This year, however, the program will be expanded to include celebrations of the school's 40th anniversary, with the goal of revisiting its history and welcoming back former students and faculty to the institution.

    Titled 'Leisure' and held as part of the Architectural Culture Lecture Series [CCCA] at EA USS, architects Juan Ignacio Cerda [ELEMENTAL] and Sebastián Cuevas will discuss program and leisure in architecture, including their spaces, users, specific characteristics, and their relationship with the city. On this occasion, the architects will present the Bicentennial Children's Park and the initiative for the creation of pocket plazas, respectively. Additionally, the panel will be moderated by Mario Marchant, a professor at USS/UCh and director of Materia Arquitectura magazine.

    PROGRAM: Cristian Izquierdo and Emilio Marín | CCCA USS | Fall 2018

    Under the title "Habitación" and as part of the Architectural Culture Lecture Series [CCCA] at the EA USS, architects Cristián Izquierdo and Emilio Marín will discuss program and residential architecture, considering contemporary commissions and ways of living. On this occasion, the guests will present the Morrillos House and the LF35 residential building, respectively. The panel will be moderated by Ernesto Silva, a USS faculty member and director of the EA Santiago campus.

    PROGRAM: Loreto Lyon and Tomás Villalón | CCCA USS | Fall 2018

    Titled 'Work' and held as part of the Architectural Culture Lecture Series [CCCA] at the EA USS, architects Loreto Lyon [Beals Lyon Arquitectos] and Tomás Villalón [Tomás Villalón Arquitecto] will discuss workspaces, their architecture, and their relationship with the city. On this occasion, the architects will present the Metro Plaza de Armas building and the Providencia Municipal Building, respectively. The panel will be moderated by USS academic Paula Orta.

    Session 249. "In Conversation with Tito Camargo, 60 Years of Practicing Architecture"

      The National Academy of Architecture, Monterrey Chapter, recognizes the talent, work, vision, and career of architect Tito Camargo, marking his 60 years of architectural practice. Distinguished members of this chapter will analyze his work and the journey that has led him to become one of the most prominent pioneers of contemporary architecture in northeastern Mexico.

      Book Launch: "Appearance, Nature, and Scale in Architecture. Juan Borchers: Journey and Work"

      On Friday, June 15, the book launch for the Editorial USM publication written by Sandro Maino, a professor in the Department of Architecture at the Federico Santa María Technical University, will take place. The book is the result of twelve years of research, cross-referencing consultations in the Borchers archive with the study and reading of his sources, complemented by travels and visits to the works he analyzed, with the primary goal of reconstructing his trajectory.

      Biennials, academia, management, publishing, and parametricism at the 2018 XFORMAS closing in Chile

      Two architects who curate the Chilean Architecture Biennial (and do not build), an architect involved in parametric design, and an architect from Concepción working in the publishing world will be the guests for the fourth session and 2018 closing event of the #XFORMAS project. The event will take place in the heart of Santiago on Thursday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. at AriztiaLAB.

      To celebrate the end of 2018, the event will feature an after-party hosted by DJ Xico and will also give away 20 copies of the book ‘Arquitectura no es solo obra’, edited by Juan Pablo Urrutia, Cristina Núñez, and Sebastián Simonetti.
