"Does following the brief guarantee a competition win?" will be the first of three questions framing the debates. What ensures the recognition of a winner in an architecture competition? Is it meticulous adherence to the requirements set out in the brief, or does there exist—or should there exist—a criterion that transcends the rules defined in each specific case? How are the rules that guide these decisions established?
