Estudio Simbiotika and Archmotion are launching the Portfolio Cycle, a series of talks featuring studios and architects from the "Made in Talca" movement, showcasing a selection of projects and works completed both within and outside the Maule region in recent years. Invited speakers include Enzo Sartori/111 Arquitectos, Juan Paulo Alarcón/Surco Studio, José Miguel Mardones/Archmotion, Carlos Candia/Aplomo, and Felipe Alarcón. The first session will be led by Cristián Axl Valdés of Mutar Estudio on September 6th at 8:00 PM at Estudio Simbiotika, 8 Ote 925 (between 2 and 3 Sur), Talca.

This work is the result of extensive research by Cuauhtémoc Medina on Olinka, a city designed to bring together scientists and artists from around the world to work free from political or social pressures—undoubtedly one of Dr. Atl’s most ambitious, yet least known, projects. The book features reproductions of documents, photographs, and plans, many of which are previously unpublished, illustrating the history of this project.

The workshop focuses on executing numerous foundational exercises proposed by masters from the Soviet "Vkhutemas" school and the German "Bauhaus." These exercises, which were part of introductory curricula, involve sensory experiments regarding volume, space, form, and color theory, featuring masters such as Nikolai Ladovsky, László Moholy-Nagy, Lyubov Popova, Lyudmila Mayakovskaya, Johannes Itten, among others. Each session will feature two masters and their respective foundational experimental proposals.

The Academic Work Competition for the Architecture and Urbanism program (CONTRAU) at Universidade Paulista (UNIP) aims to promote and highlight the semester-long projects produced by students in architecture and urbanism courses. Furthermore, it seeks to publicize proposals for interventions in both built and unbuilt spaces in São José do Rio Preto and the surrounding region.

Bergamin & Gomide is participating in EXPO Chicago 2019 at booth 311. The gallery presents the project “Exhibit A.A.A,” curated by Sol Camacho, which proposes an intersection of art, architecture, and design, featuring works by historical artists such as Alfredo Volpi, Aluísio Carvão, Athos Bulcão, Lina Bo Bardi, Lygia Clark, Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Roberto Burle Marx, and Sergio Camargo, among others.

Starting September 14, 2019, the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (MAM) presents the exhibition "Zanine 100 Years – Form and Resistance," featuring 18 works by the renowned architect, designer, artist, landscape architect, and professor José Zanine Caldas (1919–2001), stemming from his deep research into native woods. Curated by MAM design curator Tulio Mariante, the selected works represent Zanine’s iconic and prolific production between the late 1960s and 1980s, known as "protest furniture." Crafted from solid wood, these pieces were a pioneering indictment of deforestation in Brazilian forests. Mariante notes that Zanine "collected wood from logging remnants, often irregular, as a form of protest and resistance."

WinAReQ is the "International Workshop on Equinoctial Architecture," organized by the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU) at UTE University in Quito, Ecuador.

Prima is an independent architecture publication focused on the discipline's means of representation. Each issue is structured around a single medium of representation, used to explore a topic best discussed through that specific lens. For each issue, two young Chilean firms and a critic or academic whose work aligns with the theme are invited to contribute.

After several editions focused on international themes, this year Madrid will take center stage as the host of the 16th Architecture Week, taking place from September 30 to October 7. The International Workshop "Habitar o Centro" (Living in the Center) begins this Thursday and runs through September 30th, as part of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Regional/Urban Design Assistance Team (R/UDAT) program. MOVE CINE ARTE is an international film festival of Brazilian origin dedicated exclusively to the exhibition of art films and films about art. It fills a void by providing a dedicated space for the screening and discussion of films that focus on other artistic disciplines, thereby broadening the audience for various forms of creative expression.

The NCD (Núcleo Catarinense de Decoração) celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2019. To mark the occasion, the organization is bringing the NCD Summit to Santa Catarina—a full day of lectures covering architecture, the luxury market, management, digital marketing, smart cities, and interior design trends. The event, which features eight lectures, will take place at CentroSul in Florianópolis on September 2nd. This course introduces students to five of the most significant thinkers in aesthetics from the first half of the 20th century. We will begin with an overview of the formation of aesthetics as a philosophical discipline. Next, we will examine how Benjamin, Bataille, and Merleau-Ponty—in the field of philosophy—and Argan and Greenberg—in the fields of art criticism and art history—insightfully and originally navigated the transformations Western art underwent following the advent of the avant-garde and the emergence of the culture industry. By considering these two radical shifts, which fundamentally altered our relationship with images and the sensory world at large, we will explore the perspectives of these authors and assess the reach and relevance of their writings today.

The Design Laboratory (LABPROJ) at FAU USP (School of Architecture and Urbanism) will host activities focused on architectural projects for fluvial urban infrastructure every Thursday afternoon at the Centro Cultural São Paulo (CCSP), as part of the 12th International Architecture Biennial of São Paulo.
