On May 18-19, the city of Kaliningrad, capital of the westernmost part of Russia, will host the Living Environment: All About Housing Forum. The Forum includes a business program and the Urban Weekend outdoor public festival.

Besides sessions and roundtables, the ambitious program of the event includes the shortlist presentation of the projects submitted for the Open International Competition of Architectural Concepts for Standard Housing and Residential Buildings. Architects and bureaus from 39 countries took part in this prestigious competition with their projects of innovative residential housing for future generations of Russians. The competition announces a remarkable prize fund: 20 finalists will receive 1 million roubles (about € 13 300) each, up to five winning projects will be awarded 2 million roubles (about € 26 600) each, and up to five runners-up will receive 1.5 million roubles (about € 19 900) each.

The Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) Rethink the City. New Approaches to Global and Local Urban Challenges, is a free online course taught by the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment of Delft University of Technology. The course starts on May, 2nd, 2018. The first version of the course received the Excellence in Teaching Award 2017 bestowed by AESOP (Association of European Schools of Planning).

The Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) intents to hold the “International Urban Design Competition for the Regeneration of Tongyeong Dockyard” in order to newly activate its neighborhood around the previous Shina shipbuilding dock yard that is no longer in operation due to the downturn in the shipbuilding industry, to create an international hub of culture and tourism thus establishing a global tourist attraction through regeneration and reorganization of the old urban structure.
This international competition will be by invitation only, and Request for Qualification will be collected from which the participating teams will be selected. Teams that intend to participate should submit Request for Qualification that should be prepared as follows.

The aim of this competition is to make it possible to identify and implement an integrated urban remodelling concept that meets the complex needs of an area of significant size for the efficient functioning of the city of Cluj-Napoca.

Emaar Development is hosting an International Open Design competition for the Design of the Iconic Mosque at the heart of the ambitious new world-class mixed-use waterfront development Dubai Creek Harbour. The European Commission is launching an international architectural competition to identify the best design proposals for its most important current real estate project in Brussels (Belgium) – the redevelopment of its premises at rue de la Loi 130 (hence the competition name, Loi 130).

Third-largest national park in one of Europe’s greenest country, Kemeri is a stunning and eclectic mix of forests, lakes, swamps and ancient raised bogs. Situated just a 1-hour train ride from Latvia’s capital, Riga, the park is home to a wide range of fauna including rare birds like the black stork, as well as moose, deer, elk, foxes, wolves, and wild cattle and horses. These were all reintroduced into this unique ecosystem with some help from the World Wildlife Fund.
