In January 2017, the University Art Museum will open the exhibition Frank Bros.: The Store That Modernized Modern. Long Beach retailer, Frank Bros. Furniture was the primary U.S. source for the most coveted mid-century design at the height of the modernist era, furnishing nearly half of the Case Study Houses for Arts & Architecture Magazine. The store emphasized the principles of aesthetics and functionality in furniture design, and blurred the boundaries between art, design, and commerce with their exhibitions, innovative graphic design, marketing, and public relations. The exhibition will celebrate the legacy of Frank Bros. Furniture, the Frank family, and the impact on modernism in California and the United States.

Boston-area architects, engineers, contractors, designers, and students attending schools of architecture, engineering, and design participate in this annual charity event in which teams compete to display colossal sculptures made out of canned goods. Founded in 1992, Canstruction’s mission is to highlight the issue of hunger across communities, collect food for distribution to thousands and to showcase the creativity of the design industry.

SANTA FE—Architect Conrad Skinner’s five-year research project into the history of the Paolo Soleri Amphitheater plays a lead role in much wider than a line, SITE Santa Fe’s 2016 biennial dedicated to new art from the Americas. The exhibition which features 35 artists and two archival projects including Skinner’s, runs at SITE Santa Fe through January 8, 2017.

The Proposal presents the climactic moment within artist Jill Magid's extended, multimedia project The Barragán Archives, which examines the legacy of Mexican architect and Pritzker Prize-winner Luis Barragán (1902–1988). The multi-year project poses piercing, radical, and pragmatic questions about the forms of power, public access, and copyright that construct artistic legacy.

Progeny is an International Collaborative Project, featuring the work of Luke Aaron Clark (UK) and Bryce Hammond (USA). The exhibition focuses on an immersive architectural sound installation modeled after a Langstroth Beehive. There are ten partitions covered in acoustic paneling, with 48 microphones, 9 intelligent microphones and 36 speakers that transmit every single sound originated in the space.

Christopher Grimes Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new works by Veronika Kellndorfer. This body of work stems from her 2015 solo exhibition at the Casa de Vidro in São Paulo, home of celebrated Italian-born Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi. During this time Kellndorfer also engaged with the architecture of Oscar Niemeyer and gardens of Roberto Burle Marx, finding their approach to Brazilian Modernism nascent to a new scope of reference.

A soaring new skyscraper dubbed the "Brickell Flatiron" is set to rise 213 meters above the skyline in Brickell, Miami. Designed by Luis Revuelta, the tower features an organic floorplate profile with wide elliptical terraces, maximizing sweeping views of Biscayne Bay and downtown Miami.
These curvilinear, flowing lines are complemented by the interiors, designed by acclaimed Italian architect and designer Massimo Iosa Ghini of Iosa Ghini Associati. The Italian craftsmanship and renaissance-revival air of Iosa Ghini's design together with the clean functionality of Revuelta's architecture, presenting two harmonious elements of design in Miami; old school glamor, and contemporary luxury.
