Since its founding in 1990, Edifica has established itself as the most important exhibition of its kind in Latin America. Organized biennially by the Chilean Chamber of Construction and Fisa, this major event serves as the primary meeting point for the entire industry value chain, bringing together prominent suppliers, professional visitors, and representatives from both the public and private sectors. Its regional relevance is reflected in the projected attendance for upcoming editions, which aim to bring together more than 700 exhibiting companies and 35,000 professionals to highlight the industry’s contribution to the country's development.

The Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage, through its architecture department, has launched an open call for ideas for the Chilean Pavilion at the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale, which will take place in Italy from May 20 to November 26, 2023.

Applications opened yesterday, Thursday, September 29, for the competition of ideas for the exhibition to be presented at the XXII Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism of Chile, co-organized by the Association of Architects of Chile and the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage. The call for entries will remain open from September 29 through October 24, 2022, with the event scheduled to take place between December 2022 and January 2023.

International lecture by the prominent French landscape theorist Jean Marc Besse, organized by the Master of Landscape Architecture program, scheduled for this Thursday, June 21, at 6:45 PM in the Fernando Castillo Velasco Auditorium (4th floor, UC Architecture Building, Lo Contador Campus).

“Húsares trágicos” (Tragic Hussars) is a collective exhibition featuring the work of 17 contemporary artists at the Casas de los Carrera National Monument in El Monte. Built in the mid-18th century, the site was the home of José Miguel and Javiera Carrera, key figures in the Chilean War of Independence.

Unlike previous editions, the Association of Architects of Chile has proposed that the 2018 National Congress of Architects return to Santiago with a broad and diverse call for participation, thereby becoming a genuine forum for reflection to analyze the crisis experienced in recent times and to identify the challenges facing our profession. Accordingly, the 25th National Congress of Architects, to be held on August 3rd and 4th, aims to foster a more active Association that is relevant to the public agenda and serves its members.

PILOTO Itinerant Architecture Gallery showcases the work of young architects who stand out for exploring new formats of production linked to art. The works are presented through interventions in common spaces—such as bars, cafés, and community centers—located in different cities across Chile, with the goal of bringing the discipline closer to a wider audience. From March 29 to April 8, the work "Ecotono" will be presented in the city of Concepción, Chile.

The launch of the book Schapira Eskenazi Arquitectos: Obra Cincuentenaria, edited by UMWELT and Ediciones ARQ, will take place next Friday, September 7, at 7:00 PM in the Fernando Castillo Velasco auditorium at the School of Architecture.

Given the structural shift in the housing deficit, the rise in shared households, the inability of a large portion of the population to acquire housing through the market, and the preference of families for well-located housing over better living conditions, it is necessary to move toward a complete reformulation of housing policies in Chile.

Drawing on the provocative question posed by Raymond Carver in his 1987 book What We Talk About When We Talk About Love, the UTEM School of Architecture Week 2018 celebrates its 21st anniversary. The event seeks to critically examine what we understand by an architectural project and the many ways it can be approached from both academic and professional perspectives, framing a cross-disciplinary discussion throughout the week around the question: "What do we talk about when we talk about projects?"

Under the theme "The Resistance of the Territory," the 7th Congress of Heritage Communities will take place on June 15, 16, and 17, 2018. This event invites organizations mobilized for the defense and development of cultural and natural heritage from across the country to gather at this Congress, coordinated by the AntofaPatrimonial Sociocultural Collective.

There is a growing market interest in applying energy efficiency criteria to architectural projects that also ensure interior building comfort. Lighting is a key focus, making it increasingly important to incorporate natural light—a readily available and renewable resource—to reduce energy consumption associated with artificial lighting and improve indoor environmental quality.

Arquitectura y ciudad moderna en el sur de Chile. Memoria, territorio y proyecto is a book that originated from the "Surmoderno" seminar, "Valoración del Patrimonio Moderno en el Sur de Chile," held in Concepción in 2015. Two years later, following extensive editorial work, this volume was published to share and disseminate knowledge and reflections on the modern architecture developed in cities such as Chillán, Concepción, Talcahuano, Lota, Nacimiento, Osorno, and Punta Arenas—all of which exemplify the widespread development of this architectural style in the country.

Titled 'Leisure' and held as part of the Architectural Culture Lecture Series [CCCA] at EA USS, architects Juan Ignacio Cerda [ELEMENTAL] and Sebastián Cuevas will discuss program and leisure in architecture, including their spaces, users, specific characteristics, and their relationship with the city. On this occasion, the architects will present the Bicentennial Children's Park and the initiative for the creation of pocket plazas, respectively. Additionally, the panel will be moderated by Mario Marchant, a professor at USS/UCh and director of Materia Arquitectura magazine.

Under the title "Habitación" and as part of the Architectural Culture Lecture Series [CCCA] at the EA USS, architects Cristián Izquierdo and Emilio Marín will discuss program and residential architecture, considering contemporary commissions and ways of living. On this occasion, the guests will present the Morrillos House and the LF35 residential building, respectively. The panel will be moderated by Ernesto Silva, a USS faculty member and director of the EA Santiago campus.

Titled 'Work' and held as part of the Architectural Culture Lecture Series [CCCA] at the EA USS, architects Loreto Lyon [Beals Lyon Arquitectos] and Tomás Villalón [Tomás Villalón Arquitecto] will discuss workspaces, their architecture, and their relationship with the city. On this occasion, the architects will present the Metro Plaza de Armas building and the Providencia Municipal Building, respectively. The panel will be moderated by USS academic Paula Orta.

On Friday, June 15, the book launch for the Editorial USM publication written by Sandro Maino, a professor in the Department of Architecture at the Federico Santa María Technical University, will take place. The book is the result of twelve years of research, cross-referencing consultations in the Borchers archive with the study and reading of his sources, complemented by travels and visits to the works he analyzed, with the primary goal of reconstructing his trajectory.
