Single Panel Operable Wall - Acousti-Seal® Premier® | Modernfold

Modernfold manufactures operable partitions, glass wall systems and accordion doors for interiors that need to change configuration over time. The Acousti-Seal® Premier® single panel operable wall is the most economical configuration in the Acousti-Seal® line, and the only one faced in gypsum or MDF board rather than steel. That substitution is what gives the system its widest finish range, including wood veneer, and allows the closed partition to be finished so it reads as a continuation of the fixed walls around it.

Faces and finish range

Panels are faced in gypsum or MDF board on a roll-formed and welded 18-gauge steel frame, with a nominal thickness of 3 inches (76 mm). Available finishes include standard and premium fabric; standard, premium and heavy-duty vinyl; carpet; marker and tack board; wood veneer; plastic laminate; the client's own material; or uncovered. Wood veneer and laminate are the options most often specified where the partition sits within a finished interior — boardrooms, dining rooms, lobbies — and where a fabric-covered panel would announce itself as a movable wall.

Acoustic options and weight

The system is offered at 50, 47 or 28 STC. Hanging weight runs from 6 to 8 lbs/sq.ft., the lightest range in the Acousti-Seal® line, which reduces the structural demand above the ceiling and can be decisive in renovations where the existing structure has limited spare capacity. The 28 STC option provides spatial and visual division with limited sound isolation, appropriate where the divided areas are not in simultaneous use.

Sealing, dimensions and track

Sealing is by fixed sweep at the top and, at the bottom, an automatic A2 2-inch seal or a manual SureSet™ 2-inch seal. Opening width is unlimited and maximum height reaches 24 feet (7,315 mm), with track options #17, #14, RT100 and RT200. The system is compatible with the Modernfold Truss System® where the structure above the ceiling cannot carry the partition load directly. Panels travel individually, so the layout can include intersections and more than one storage direction from the same run.

Circulation

Pass doors are available in single or double leaf, built in matching construction so the door carries the same face material and finish as the surrounding panels.
