Modernfold manufactures operable partitions, glass wall systems and accordion doors for interiors that need to change configuration over time. The Acousti-Seal® Encore® Automated operable wall is the electric configuration of the manufacturer's highest acoustic platform: panels are continuously hinged into a single train that extends across the opening and retracts into storage at the press of a touchpad, removing manual handling from the operation entirely. It is available in two versions, the standard Encore® Automated and Encore® Automated #20 for taller openings.
Automated operation
Because the panels move as one linked unit, setup does not depend on staff positioning individual panels correctly, and the sequence of extension, sealing and retraction is consistent every cycle. This matters in venues where the same room is reconfigured between events under time pressure, and where the labor cost of manual setup is recurring. Electrical operation is paired with safety systems that monitor the panel run during travel; the specific safety devices and control locations should be coordinated with the local distributor at the design stage.
Two versions by height and span
The standard Encore® Automated runs on #14 or #30 track, reaching 24 feet (7,315 mm) in height, with a maximum opening of 133'-9" (40,767 mm) for a single run and 267'-0" (81,382 mm) for a pair. Encore® Automated #20 uses the heavier #20 track to reach 40 feet (12,192 mm) in height, with a maximum opening of 235'-9" (71,857 mm) single and 471'-0" (143,561 mm) paired — a range intended for arenas, exhibition halls and double-height convention floors.
Panel construction, acoustics and sealing
Both versions use a roll-formed and welded 16-gauge steel frame with steel faces and a nominal thickness of 4.25 inches (108 mm), rated at 56, 54 or 52 STC. Hanging weight ranges from 8 to 12 lbs/sq.ft. depending on the acoustic rating specified. The top seal operates automatically, and bottom sealing is available as SureSet™ 2-inch automatic or as SureSet™ 2-inch and 4-inch touch seals.
Circulation and finishes
Pass doors are specified as a single leaf in matching construction. Panel faces are available in standard and premium fabric; standard, premium and heavy-duty vinyl; carpet; marker and tack board; plastic laminate; the client's own material; or uncovered.
